A while back, I recall people claiming that they were playing SCD Rom 2 games on their PSPs. I had sold my PSP by then, and actually had a PC Engine then, so I didn't care. But, now that I have a PSP and no PC Engine and am interested in learning how (if possible) to do it... Any help is much appreciated.

Use PCEP emulator to do this.

As soon as I get my PSP, I'll be loading some PCE games to it so I'll share what I know later on in this thread. :)

PCEP is probably your best bet. Does anyone remember how to get the CD/SCD games working?

You might want to try using e[mulator] as well (supports SGX roms),although very little is known about it as far as its CD/SCD function goes.

I downloaded e[mulator] today. The developer claims it is able to play all PCE games, including SCD2. He also claims that it plays NGPC games, but I couldn't get any roms working on it. It plays wonderswan games, that I can verify.

Anyway, I wasn't sure how to go about the PCE CD stuff. I unzipped a game that I personally burned when I had my PC Engine into the folder and it didn't do anything. There is a menu in the emulator where it pulls the directory up and you can load an .iso. But, the game I put on it didn't show up. So, I don't know what to do.

On PSPupdates.com, this kid claims that he is playing Dracula X using this emulator... :conf:

I was playing Dracula X last year on PSP. I think it was PCEP or Hue? Was a long time ago. But it worked very well.

I believe you also need a cue sheet to play the CD image games (ISOs). And you may also need to extract the files from the ISO. It's been a long time since I did this.

This e(mulator) sounds cool, I need to look into that. If it really can run WS and NGPC as well as PCE and PCE CD games, that'd be amazing.

i have e[mulator]. the only thing i've tried was devil's crush.
i had to unpack it and place the .pce file directly in w/ eboot

Well... NGPC emulation is rather bad on PC, and I doubt it'll be any better on PSP... PC-based emulation is (almost ?) always superior to console-based emulation.

There already is a port of NeoPop on the psp (actualy was done by me).

Ngpc is not overly bad. My next build makes things more acceptable at around 50-60fps.

Tried HuE today.

Definitely alot smoother compared to PCEP (I was playing DracX).

Does it support mp3s? All I get is the sound effect, no music...

I want to see Sapphire running on a PCE Emu for the PSP. :) That game is the best shooter for the PCE Graphics and Music wise, other than them I wanna see RayXanber II and III on the PSP. :)

Did you clicked on the link I posted? It's all there...

First off....the pcep doesn't use cue files. You have to make a TOC.

copy this and make a TOC file.

This is for Dracula X Rondo of Blood

Super CD Rom2 System V3.00.pce
The super Cdrom v.3.00 is the start up of the cdrom. so you need this to run cd rom games. easy to find on google.com

Your MP3's & ISO are fine.

To get music to work theirs 2 things you need to do.

1) Make sure your MP3's are normal mp3's
2) to re-name your mp3's

I'll start with #1

The one thing you have to do is make sure your mp3's are normal mp3's and not mp3 pro. If their mp3 pro, you'll have to convert them to normal mp3's

Use a program called Winlame. It's real easy to use. and can be found on google.com If their normal mp3's then don't worry and move on to #2

#2

Re-name your mp3's like this..

01.mp3
02.iso
03.mp3

see where I'm going with this.

Just re-name them like that, but don't put the mp3 at the end, because it's already a mp3 or iso. and if you have the name track in your mp3's and iso, take them out and just put the number in. ok....

next put your TOC, MP3's and ISO's all in one folder and name it anything you want, but since it's Dracula X name it Dracula X.

Put the folder on your Memory Stick.

psp/game/pcep07. not the % folder

Start emu...start any game....it doesn't matter which. Then press the (L) shoulder button. Go to "cd change" look for your folder name Dracula X. go inside the folder and pick the TOC file. You wont see the mp3's or iso...don't worry. You'll just see the TOC. select it, then back out then go to "card change" and look for "Super CD Rom2 System V3.00.pce" select that. Press it and the menu will appear. press Run(Start button) and the game should start with music.

Ehhhhhh, it's not great, but I can't complain. I don't know if you saw, but I posted being like, "WTF? how do you make a TOC file?" But, I figured it out and that's partly why it was so insane, hahaha...

A lot of the sound effects aren't even there at all. Once the track is over, The music is done. It just stops, it doesn't repeat. Kinda ghetto, but like I said, I can't complain. I'm really satisfied with it. It makes me sad more than anything though... I once owned this game for real... :(

Oh well, that's what I get for not paying a cent for the game. ;)

Still hoping the gp2x scene can make a perfect PCFX emulator...

I beat this yesterday. What an excellent game...

About Sapphire: I can't find a ToC for it anywhere, but other than that, I have it all ready to go on my PSP...

Edit: Apparently, there is no rom for the arcade card, so that would mean that Sapphire isn't possible on PSP...

I just use the System 3.0 rom image on the emulators for PC and it plays the Arcade Card games. I assume it would work the same on the PSP emus as well.

Yeah, I was able to do that with Magic Engine as well. But, I had a PC Engine Duo R and a burn of Sapphire and I got the same screen I do on PSP. The "arcade card required" screen...
