Hi all

I'm in the process of replacing caps on a MV1FZ board. Is it just me or is there anyone else who found it quite challenging?

I'm especially struggling with the legs connecting to GND.

Are there any common explanation and/or advice on pulling caps from old boards?

The issue you're likely running into is that your equipment can't get those ground pins hot enough and fast enough. With those ground pins the ground plane is dissipating the heat faster than your iron can apply it. I even had some trouble with my fancy Hakko desoldering gun, I had to crank it higher than I was really comfortable with to get the job done.

The redneck engineering way to go about this is to snip the old cap's leg with flush cutters, put a blob of solder on top and solder the new cap's leg to it. While I wouldn't recommend this since it would make a pretty weak joint, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
