Joysticks and buttons not working

I bought a mvs arcade cab that came with a blue elf. I put in a mv1c to test and it worked perfect. I didnt know there was different harnesses but I was lucky its a jamma harness since everything worked. I bought a mvs adapter to use a 4 slot board but now all the controls dont work except the coin button. Is there something I need to do for them to work?

I just tested it again and 2nd player controls are working.

It might be working now. I had to clean connector. I only have xeno crisis to test. The volume levels are going up and down but I think thats a cart issue.
