You heard me bitches, if you "don't care" about the numbers, and then you reply to this thread just to let us know you don't care, it makes you a retard. Good going.

Feb 14 - 20, 2005

System - This Week - Total for Year
PlayStation 2 38,954 432,091
PlayStation Portable 38,314 400,669
Nintendo DS 22,363 328,042
GameBoy Advance SP 10,849 148,726
GameCube 3,256 55,428
GameBoy Advance 399 4,412
Xbox 295 3,595

Something of a slip for PSP sales. I suppose it may be thanks to Gran Turismo 4. the DS also saw a slip, but only 3,000 units while the PSP fell about 7,000 compared to the previous week. This might also substantiate my point about PSP sales skyrocketing when availability opened up on the unit, but it's a weak substantiation.

Nothing really amazing here of course, just figured I'd toss this out there.

Edit: Oh, and a reworking of my previous figures. JHendrix had a good point in order to see the Japanese DS sales, and when the PSP would pass them, I needed to revise my estimates.

So another numbers comparison is

DS: 1,578,042
PSP: 950,669

Not quite as PSP-bad. If this weeks sales numbers continued indefinitely the PSP would pass the DS's Japanese sales sales in 39 weeks. This estimate still gives the DS the worldwide advantage of course. With an impending European DS launch and an impending American PSP launch the worldwide numbers are bound to go screwy though, no telling where they'll be, especially since I'm not certain the PSP can perform at $249, or that Nintendo of Europe could market their way out of a paper box.
