My apologies, I was talking about Part 2. Here is the box I was referring to:

Just popping in here to say I got a CD-ROM installed so those fmv game recs are now totally valid. I'll have to see if full throttle and the dig will work on this machine.

Bare boot your system. It won't run Windows and bring you to DOS right away. Then just load Doom like you normally would.

I'm already doing that. I think doom was a high spec game for 1993 if you ran it at max settings, and this PC is probably around average for 1993.

Maybe I oversold how choppy doom runs. It runs pretty well with a few reduced detail settings, but choppy when maxed out. I took a video to demonstrate. Reduced settings in first half, high detail settings in second half.

Since you're fortunate enough to own a GUS, why not experience all the GUS games?

Here's a list:

  • Crusader: No Remorse
  • Crusader: No Regret
  • Death Rally
  • DOOM v1.2 or below
  • Epic Pinball
  • Extreme Pinball
  • Jazz Jackrabbit
  • The Lemmings Chronicles
  • One Must Fall 2097
  • Pinball Arcade CD-ROM (Pinball Dreams & Pinball Dreams II)
  • Pinball Fantasies
  • Pinball Illusions
  • Silverball
  • Star Control II
  • Turrican 2
  • Zone 66

I've been traversing the shareware underworld and coming up with a few cool titles. One of them is Flying Tigers, pretty heavily influenced by the likes of Raiden and 1942. The music is above average for a shareware game of 1994, the first level music even sounds like something you'd hear in Raiden 1.
