The PDP Versus is wired as common ground inside, making it an easy padhack. I really like these controllers because they have a clicky microswitched d-pad like the Neo Geo CD, and microswitched buttons. I've written before that it's pretty much the perfect controller in my opinion. The Versus takes heat in reviews because people claim that the buttons don't hold up, but they're easily replaceable and I've never had one fail (I own 4 of them). Oh, and they cost $10 shipped on Amazon.
I used a VGA cable and a metal DB15 shroud to replace the original. I followed this chart, which shows all of the solder points on the PCB. I also jumped the RT/LT triggers to A/B, and the guide button to start. I plan on 3D printing this Neo Geo logo to replace the Xbox 360 jewel, along with an LED below. Might as well use the +5v for something.
The controller feels very responsive and much crisper than the NGCD controller.
