a few questions to those who owned a Neo Geo back in the days.

To be fair, the Saturn ports of non-KOF SNK titles were rather good. The only reason the KOF titles suffered on Saturn was the load times between fights (like on NGCD).

However, the SNK ports for PS1, on the whole, were pretty flawed. KOF 95 was the only port I seem to remember being decent. The rest were all severely cut down/limited.
The only time the mainstream consoles started to match or surpass the Neo Geo was when the Dreamcast, PS2 and X-box were released. That was when there started to be perfect ports, including no load times, and the sprites in PS2 (AES) fighting games were the same size as the Neo Geo. Not sure if any Neo ports were released on the Dreamcast, though.

No load times on a disc-based system? Unsure about Neo ports on the DC? There is just no limit to your knowledge is there?

no load times?

also:

plenty of perfect PS1 ports, as the hardware was the same with the exception of a CD drive.

Plenty of NG DC ports also with loading times. LB2 comes to mind.
