More people were at the arcade tonight than ever before! I am also partnering with a prevention program at the school to get flyers out to all the kids at the school so they all know about the nights the arcade is open…39 people tonight (7 adults, 32 kids)

The arcade was fun tonight. We made like 150 pancakes and every single one was gone almost as soon as they were made!!!

Sadly, the Nintendo VS DualSystem “Red Tent” bit the dust when I turned it on tonight…

Surprisingly, very few kids actually used the syrup. The pancakes has sweet candy sprinkles in them so a lot of the kids just ate them plain or as a butter sandwich lol. I was afraid of the messy cleanup too, but I had no issues.

I always let people know that if there is something that they really want to play to let me know and I might have it or I can look for it. I keep a list of my available games and a decent sized wish list. I really like finding obscure or oddball puzzle games to give the few introvert kids something to play obsessively in the corner of the arcade when they would rather not be in the chaos.

I’m in the last steps of my next new project for my tiny mountain town…

I’m starting a competitive gaming club through the high school that will be starting in January. The plan is to get enough kids serious about it to get the school to have an esports team that I will then coach. I have the Principal and Superintendent approval for the club and just finished submitting the bylaws and constitution for it. I have a couple local businesses that are going to donate for the purchase of gaming monitors and controllers. I already have a Xbox Series S and Nintendo Switch with the games that the esports league in Washington is playing. We aren’t going to do the PC games because of monies. I might have someone donating another Switch locally. I need another Series S and a couple more Switches eventually.

This is going to be fun. I am trying to make it very comparable to what the esports teams will be doing, but I have a few competitive setups for old school stuff that I will mix in as well. I plan to run some fighting games in there too. I also have a 16-player Mario Kart Double Dash setup ready!

Made a trade for DJ Boy from JoeAwesome and it’s all ready to go in the arcade for when it opens on Wednesday. I love starting the new year with a new game! Also, my competitive gaming club begins after school this Wednesday. I was able to raise half the startup funds from some local businesses! That is very exciting. There’s a lot of people looking forward to the after school club getting started…

The SEGA Turbo has seen its demise and has left the building. A few of the parts from the Turbo were traded for a rebuilt monitor chassis for Carrier Airwing which is looking great now (see the before and after monitor pux). The blurry parts on Carrier Airwing are because of the plexi, not the monitor. Sold off the rest of the major parts of Turbo to recoup the cost of the machine and gave away the hacked up cabinet to someone local to do whatever they want with…

Weekly Gaming Club is going alright. Basketball season ends next week so we’ll see how many more kids show up when their schedules free up…

We had even more kids at the Gaming Club yesterday. It looks like it’s picking up a little…

There were 34 people at the arcade. The weather has been so warm that the kids were in and out all night. Lots of excitement! Got some replacement LED rotating disco bulbs and these ones turned out to be much bigger than the previous ones. The lighting was kinda intense. Took some new pictures of the arcade all set up before people arrived…

Had a good turnout for Gaming Club today. The last of our supplies we ordered for the club arrived (4x 27” BenQ gaming monitors). Going to run a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament next Wednesday!…

Today was the first tournament of the after school competitive gaming club! Super Smash Bros. Ultimate with a 10 player double elimination bracket. Great turnout and lots of fun. The Principal even joined in!
