Slowly coming back to me. My biggest complaint is the slowness of stage 1. Never die, not much to do to increase score, just feels like a wasted 3 mins at the start of each run. Meh, small complaints, overall it has a lot of nice mechanics. I like the hidden items, the regenerating bomb, the weapon selection.

My weekend warrior score - more attempts this weekend. I've found that if I can make it through stage 2 and 3 without dying it'll be a good run. And gah damn does that stage 1 get tedious after a while. Hopefully I can crack dat 1 million mark.

Meh. Stage 4 boss is a struggle for me. Run after run, just can't get him. I thought if all else fails i'll just bomb-spam him. Got there with all lives and full bombs, died...reset back about 20 seconds before the boss fight, then start boss fight all over? No idea that was the deal.
There are tons of hidden items you can uncover, of course, but if you don't know, there is a fountain of capcom characters 2/3 way through stage 4, on the right side where the 2 large red square turrets spawn. Ryu, megaman, something I didn't recognize.
Anyways, i'm done with this one, it'll be my final. Glad I tried it again, but between slowness of stage 1 and stage 4 boss, i'm good on it.

Is there a mame cheat for auto fire? I'd give this another go with auto fire as it would probably make the game a bit easier.

January 2024 Varth Shooter of the Month Awards Show
As we come to Game Over on the January 2024 SOTM Varth, I'd like to hand out some awards or JAVs (January Awards Varth). Innocent me decided to search JAV to see if it was some sort of British Slang I never heard of, and got hits for Japanese Adult Videos. @Hans - You really jumped in scoring, I can tell you put some effort into this, Great job!
Sixth Man Award - Hey You Finished Middle of the Pack. That's not a bad thing, you were able to mange the SOTM and real life at the same time, putting quality time into both. If they were ever picking a January Varth Shooter of the Month Team you would not be picked first, but you wouldn't be picked last either (isn't that what really counts anyway?) Just like Pinch Hitter Greg Gross (Phillies 1979-1988, hey he was at my Little League Banquet back in the day) or Sixth Man Jeremy Lin (Linsanity was something else), you can be counted to come off the bench and put in a competitive score.

I mean "Hey my Analogue Dock is broken so I can't play," even though the game is like $1.99 on steam, and I believe was $.99 when the month began, you sir get a JAV for your excellence in not scoring (even though you have plenty of JAVs in actual scoring.)
