I feel NESTS Chronicles is at least nearly as great. Well Those from the Past Saga (my preferred name for it), had potential but I think the sprite updates didn't leave them time to give Those from the Past a more fitting climax in XIII instead of just being cutscene material. >.>

If it was an anime and not a fighter, I'd hate it.

But for some reason I've always loved it.

The characters make the story.

anime/manga cliches still sell big and very popular.

It's still definitely lightyears better than the trash of a story Capcom fighting games have, and KOF story does help deepen the characters, bonds and personalities further.

Art of Fighting invented advanced storytelling in fighting games, and KOF took it towards more flexible and creative levels.

I wish there were more fighters where you can only pick one or two characters, and you have to beat your enemies a specific way (i.e. learning a Haohshouken to beat Mr. Karate). Alas, the competitive nature of the genre wouldn't allow that.

AOF1 is still my favorite out of the trilogy.

nice job, there are characters that appear on the entire KOF saga like Kyo and Terry, a compilation of stories by team or character could make an interesting addition to the file, also a PDF would make it easier to navigate!

rival schools is one of those fighting games that have endings and stories locked that can only be accessed by defeating enemies with an specific move!
