SNKJorge had me pick up some of his stash from storage while he's making the move back to SoCal. One of the things is a clear JPN Neo Pocket to I decided to playtest it to make sure it works. Good memories of when I used to own one!

TurfMasters was fun, and BAM was decent. Neither really satisfied in the long run compared to their big brothers. Metal Slug annoyed me because of the completely non-linear Turrican style gameplay. Still, there was a good bunch of titles and I remember wasting hours on Cardfighters and KOF-R2/Last Blade. In the end, there are too many other new games to play so I won't be picking up this up again any time soon.

This thread mad me want to take a break from Dragon Quest 9 and play a little NGPC! I dusted it off and although it worked fine, the old girl is really beat up, and the lighting in my house is so low I could barely see. Metal slug 1st mission is more fun than I remember! When I get paid I'm going to have to hunt down a new system and some new games for it.

I could write an essay on the system, but I will leave it at this: NGPC is awesome.

Free meal on me at Club Dinner if you write said essay:glee: Man, what a fun system. The DC link, the thumbstick, MOTM in all of it's glory (mini games, user created win quotes, superb engine). One of the best SJCs (Next Level Videogame's monthly meetup) I've ever attended involved NGPC link play. Hella fun. GET POCKET POWAH!

My system is driving me slightly mad. I've probably played more Metal Slug 1st mission in the past few days than I ever did when it was new, but the house I'm in now has really soft lighting and I'm having a hard time seeing the damn thing. Do the Nyko Worm Lights that they had back in the day work well with the thing? Maybe I should just shell out the cash for a front light modded system.

My backup battery is on the brink so I've had to order a few extra. I'd complain but I've had my system for 10 years and I don't remember this ever happening before. :spock:
And while we're on topic, like the poster above, I'd like to get something to improve the screen. I'm sure that there was some sort of ligh attachment made for this thing...anyone know the name of the model or at least point me in the direction of a seller?
I've seen a few videos on YouTube of front-light mods and almost all of them are horrible because of how reflective the screen is. It's almost as if it does more harm than good. But I've just spent the last twenty minutes or so looking around so maybe there's actually something to this.
Either way, let me know.

Let me know where you find one at, I'm having trouble finding it. It seems like ebay was littered with them not too long ago.

Yeah, I can't seem to find it on Ebay, Amazon, or any of the usual places. Damn it.

The CR 2032 only keeps the settings and language options saved. Technically you don't need it to play, but the system will make you input the settings everytime you turn the system on if it's dead.

Okay, I've decided that I'm going to try to get a complete set of NGPC USA games. That may be quite an undertaking since I only have 5 or so games, but with US games being so cheap now is the time to do it. It shouldn't cost much for most of the games though, since I'm going to hunt for cart-only games at first and put them in DS cases. Hunting down complete copies of everything would just be a bit too much.

I just picked up a "glacier blue" NGPC this morning with:

The Match of the Millennium
Neo Turf Masters
Pac-Man
Puzzle Bobble Mini
Sonic Pocket Adventure
Metal Slug 1st Mission
Pocket Tennis Color
Fatal Fury First Contact

I can't wait to play them, but I have to wait until after I get out of class this afternoon. :(

I just sold a perfect copy of faselei! for 40 dollars. It must have been a bad deal on my part. I bought it for around 70, and I thought that was a good deal then. :D:

Has anyone here played dynamite slugger (AKA sluggaer)? Compared to baseball stars pocket, it is much better i THINK. Both pale compared to baseball stars 2 for mvs, of course. I also really liked neo geo cup for ngpc. You know it was very simple--top down and slow, but the gameplay had a particular oomph in the cup mode, which is by all regards very rewarding and deep. I love the little pregame scenes where someone gets sick, and you have to choose a right medicine for the guy; or when fans suddenly jump on the team and tear you apart; that kind of thing made ngpc such a nice and sweet little handheld.
Then there is samurai shodown 2. I would say I don't like it that much. For me, samurai shodown 3 is just downright perfect. i could never really recognize much in the pocket version as opposed to 3. It's too quick and shallow. KOF round 2 is very good, though. And the best fighter, I think would be Match of the millennium. That and the last blade. I love all the extras in MOTM. It has a lot of minigames and unlockable characters. :dragb:
