I've played several of the Mega Man games, mainly the X series on PS1.

I pretty much liked X3 and X4 the best. The graphics and animation in X4 impressed me alot, the boss characters were pretty cool too, I loved that big Walrus thing in the Ice cave.

I like to know what others think is the pinnacle of the series.

I'm unclear since Megaman and Megaman X aresupose to be like two seperate series....

But for either one I'll say I like MM3 since I love the music for it and it's the one that had me hooked the longest

For the X series I'll go for X1, not the best in the action area( i like X2 more for that ) but the music was tops

Having played MMII made MMIII extra special due to the appearance of Wily bots. For the X series, MMX2 was topsin many ways.

It has to be MMII (NES) for me. I'm also keen on MMX2 for the SNES.

Anything past MMX3 is where the series went metrosexual, IMO. :annoyed:

You're fucking kidding me. Final Fantasy X is an example of a metrosexual game, putting anything Megaman in that category is downright RETARDED.

The newer MM games are metrosexual/gay/insert other rant here. Have you played any of the recent MM games? They are a fucking insult to the series as a whole. Just rediculous. :shame: :oh_no:

any 2D MM that is pre X7 is either good or excellent IMO.

my favourites are MM 3 and MM X3.

I didn't care for X7 too much compared to X-6, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it.

The games after X3 were just as good in my opinion, if you don't like 'em that's cool, but please don't call them metrosexual. Completely irrelevant comparison.

To avoid confusion: Roman numerals are used to denote the GB games. 1234 for the NES and up series.

Got to be Mega Man 2 for NES, although I loved 3 too. I even had the password system decoded myself at one point

if you're talking about the GBA and next-gen MM games, then yes, I gotta agree.

but MM X4~6 and MM8 were good compared to the shitty games that were being released at that time.

the new games on the other hand has nothing to do with the series. even the X resies plays completely different now. some of them may be good, but certainly play nothing like the older MM games.

MM2 NES, no contest!
Just like MM1, defeating the enemies with the logical weapon to do it with actually made sense. Tough and FUN final boss, the sounds after you kill it, love that quiet cave at the end... That coupled with 2 difficulty settings and a really great story, awesome titlescreen music; the game is just fekkin perfect! Also had one of the finest (albiet saddest) endings I can remember for a game. I played MM2 more than any other MM in history.

MM1 is my second favorite for its weapons, Elecman! (Where I got my username), the music, fighting the evil twin of myself, the tube level near the end and most of all; the sheer memories of 1987. I must have rented that game from the local videostore about 3-4 times because I couldn't find it in any store to buy!

MM3 was good too, but sort of lost the logical anti-weapon/boss relationship. MM4-6 just crumbled (but I'm glad Capcom put them out though!)

MM3! Has my fav boss in the entire series (see av) and the music was sick! The main theme, and the bgm of Shadow Man, Hard Man, and Gemini Man are what did it for me. In 2nd is MM5, and in 3rd in MM2.

MegaMan 3... Bosses started to differ in size in this game, Coolest sub-weapons (next to MegaMan 8 and X), and best music...

BEST STAGE THEME=MagnetMan's stage!!!!!!

ShadowMan, HardMan, ProtoMan, Opening theme, and Password theme are the best too...

Megaman 2 & 3 are up there.......But I loved X3 if only for Vile's return....

Vile is Way cooler than Zero IMO, just Like Boba Fett is cooler than Luke Skywalker.
