I just returned from seeing it with a few friends.

Given how horrible the first one is I'm absolutely suprised it wasn't outright shit. It combined the storylines of Resident Evil 2&3, the Nemesis itself was pretty underwelhming though. It had a few good action scenes, a few laughs scattered throughout and much higher production values than the original.

It's nothing amazing but it's a decent enough disposable horror/action movie to make it worth watching when you have nothing planned for a friday night.

I agree, the movie is not great, but it is indeed entertaining.

It was nice to see Jill Valentine and Nemesis in this movie, since the lack of game-related events/characters made the first one truly unappealing.

The ending makes it seem like they might release a third one... if they do, I hope we get to see Wesker and other BioHazard characters.

I went in with low expectations and walked out having them surpassed in every way. One of the worst movies I've seen in a while.

Spoiler:

Nemesis being sympathetic to the heroes? Fuck that. :very_ang:

Save your money and just go see Shaun of the Dead.

One of the best comedies and zombie movies (2-for-1... what a deal) to come around in a long time.

Man, the reviews have torn that movie a new asshole (or should I say "plot hole").

Meh, no interest before, no interest now.

Here's my favorite quote from a mainstream review: "The movie is an utterly meaningless waste of time. There was no reason to produce it, except to make money, and there is no reason to see it, except to spend money. It is a dead zone, a film without interest, wit, imagination or even entertaining violence and special effects [...] Parents: If you encounter teenagers who say they liked this movie, do not let them date your children."

If Mila is in it, I will see it. I will not waste anyone's time trying to consruct a fancy excuse for my behavior. The matter is just that simple.

Black people should've never started spelling Sean as Shawn, its just not how the fucking name is spelled.

I enjoyed the movie for what it was, not to mention having both Jill Valentine and Nemesis in it. L.J. (Mike Epps) definitely provided the comedy relief in this movie. I'm not sure why (considering this is supposed to be a horror/action type movie), but I actually enjoyed those parts quite a bit.

that's right - its actually an Irish name if I'm not mistaken, and there are various other names of Irish origin that are the same way (Seamus which is pronounced Shamus or instance).

I love cheesy horror flicks - I actually kind of enjoyed the first one for what it was. I'm not really looking for intellectual stimulation in Hollywood anymore - personally I think that's a lost cause. I'll be checking this one out soon methinks. :)

That movie looks fly. I really want to see it, but is it only available in artsy theatres?

It's getting a nation-wide release at the end of the month, around the 23rd or 24th I believe...

It's out on R2 DVD..... So it looks like I'm just going to go the Region Free DVD player route (my M-V880 will output PAL DVD's as NTSC or vice versa without an issue)

Yeah, I got mine a few days ago from Amazon (they rock when it comes to speedy shipping.)

It hasn't left my DVD player since I got it, and I must have watched it at least a half-dozen times now.

I don't know how I am going to follow that one, but oh well...

When I think BioHazard/Resident Evil, I think of something atmospheric and moody first, then about the segments of action contained within. The first movie seemed to capture that whole overall feel much better than Apocalypse did; the sequel just devolved into nothing but a mindless action film with very few scenes that could actually be called scary. I was horribly disappointed, and I think most of the theater was as well. About a half an hour into it, everyone had started laughing and heckling the film. Too bad.

Also, did anyone else notice how terrible the dialog was? Check out this sample dialog (it's not exact, but you get the idea):

ALICE: They're gonna nuke this place at sunup.
JILL: Nuke? How big?
ALICE: Five kiloton.
JILL: Five kiloton? FUCK ME!

That left me scratching my head, because what relevance does the size of the nuclear warhead being launched at the city have to do with anything? Argh. Like others have said, so much potential wasted. :crying:

Never saw #1, my question is, should I watch #1 to understand #2 or are they self contained stories and it really shouldn't matter?

Hahahaha did anyone else notice how bad the dialogue in the GAMES is? Check out this sample dialog (it's not exact, but you get the idea):

BARRY: Jill, I'll give you this lockpick, since you're the master of unlocking!

I love the games, and I thought the first movie was a complete insult to the story of the games, but...for some reason (Milla), I loved it anyway. I wouldn't dare look at the movie with a critical eye, though, and I won't when I watch Apocalypse either. I'm sure I'll enjoy it, just in a different way than I enjoy the games.
