Original language track with subs. I won't have it any other way unless the dubbing is decent on anime. However, live action movies with dubbing is a big NO in my lifetime. I prefer that the material stay true to itself and preserve the cultural aspects of its origins. By the way, I also hate it when HK movies change the freakin names.

Subtitled. Generally the people who get hired to be actors can act better than people who get hired to do voice-overs. Otherwise, they'd get work as actors. Celebrity actors doing voice over for cartoons tend to overact, so you really can't win with a dub.
If I'm watching a movie about Mexico for example (like El Mariachi), I want them to speak fucking Spanish. It's more authentic and I can get into the movie better. If there are a bunch of Mexican characters, in Mexico, speaking english, it pulls me out of the movie (Desperado bugged me in this way). Same goes for any film from any country in the world.
I guess if I had problems reading or something, I would prefer dubs. But to each their own. Most dvds have both, so who cares. Widescreen vs. pan and scan, on the other hand...

Prefferably subbed to hear the delivery as it is/was intended.
Though usually i'll watch it anyway and not really give a shit.
90% of my Anime is by Manga UK or ADV all dubbed and if i saw them in original format id prolly not enjoy them as much, tho as a rule i'd generally look for subbed these days.

I know enough Japanese to understand what's going on in most anime (unless there's a lot of techno-babble-bullshit or a -really- complex plot). I generally watch subs once to catch some of the things that I'd miss in my weak japanese translation. Unfortunately, some of the subs that come from some the North American distributers are groan-inducingly bad (software scupters and ADV tend to be the worst offenders).

All of Miyazaki's I prefer Subbed because he takes such care in choosing who plays the voices.
Cowboy Bebop, on the other hand, I like more with the American actors.

Subbed although I'm really more of a passive anime fan, I'll watch if my friends have it on but don't expect me to ever watch it on my own. I just have a personal policy of always watching foreign films in their original language.

Most dubbing actors and actresses are awful, so I need my subtitles.
One of the worst I've seen is Guyver. Some of the scenes make me cringe when watching it dubbed, but honestly, I can't think of a quality dubbed flick.
On a broader term, I actually watch all movies with subs (be it through the DVD's options or my television.) You never know what you might miss being said in the background.

I prefer sub-titles, but in a few rare instances voice-overs are very well done. Examples of this is Cowboy Bebop and Trigun. Terrible voice overs are Dragon Ball, Yu Yu Hakisho, and Excel Saga.

I can watch both. If the Dub is good i can watch it,but for most part. I prefer Sub more though when, it comes down to "watching" anime. Sub when i realy got into the hobby back in 98. So pretty much afther all these years. I'm use it the down side most of my personal friends, are lazy and rather watch Dub. Wich gets on my nerves to no end.

Oh, god, it has to be subbed. I usually hate dubs because the American voice actors have sounded like absolute tools - - save for Cowboy Bebop - - but it wasnt until I watched the remastered Animego Macross DVDs have I noticed how much performance can alter the mood of a character.
In Robotech Minmay was a whiney, spoiled, airheaded cunt that everyone in the 80s hated. In Macross however, she came off as a young starlet that became lost in her own fame.....almost sympathetic.

I prefer subbed for the most part, but I've enjoyed series like Hellsing, Cowboy Bebop, and Trigun dubbed.
Dubbed - Anime dubs stopped being bad about 7 years ago, and really hit a stride sometime in the past couple years. I watch dubs because I enjoy the performances the VA's give, coupled with the spot-on lip-flap matching and the fact hat I dont have to read subs.

I wish I had your enthusiasm for the English versions of these things. With the ones I have spot checked, they seem to be about 10% better than what they used to be, which puts them at about 15% of what the Japanese language Anime is. They have a LONG way to go before they match the Japanese tracks.toy_brain said:

The original language performance, be it Anime or film, is always better than the dubs.

Yeah, anime dubs still suck. In Abenobashi you're forced to listen to the english dub for a few seconds before each episode, when it gives you a little preview of the "action" to come. Man does it suck.
