Some of the changes are ok, some of them suck. I wish Lucas would just release the original movies the way they were originally put out.

I hear that man but Lucas is a fuckin' degenerate prick who doesn't give a fig about his fans. Darth Vader should buttfuck him with that red light sabre just to show him what the Galaxy thinks of him. ---I picked up the legitimate VCDs of the trilogy some time back, see no need to get the DVDs myself.

I agree that the release of the originals would be the optimal situation. Actually, they could probably put both versions on the same disc (ala T2: Ultimate Edition), and that would be the best situation.

However, just going by the changes mentioned in the article, most of the alterations don't really seem all that bad. I'll have to actually see the scene with Guido to make a final decision, since that REALLY fucking annoyed me about the '97 version of episode IV, but I'm hoping I'll be able to live with this one. I had actually considered getting DVD recorder and a VCR just so I could copy my old VHS tapes (I've got the originals), but hopefully it won't come to that.

Good thing I own the laserdisc box sets of both the original and special edition. After this fuck up I expect them to skyrocket in value again.

ouch...
I tried it once to myself and It hurts

anyway
i think is something like "Indiana Jones trilogy" basically no extras and the deleted scenes(present into the laserdisc edition) kept away

this sucks, I know we're speaking about details, but It's irritating nonetheless
He should have kept original release as well

The most controversial addition may be that of replacing the original Anakin Skywalker ghost with a ghostly image of Hayden Christensen, who plays the young Anakin in Episodes II and III. I’m glad that they kept the goof of a storm trooper banging his head on a door in Episode IV.

meh....I mean why? what's the point of these little changings
motherfucker is going insane as of late

I'm in a mix of fear and excitement, as always a new Star Wars something is announced.

The sad thing is the fact that damn jew have great chance in getting my money again... I'm ttying to wait to buy the 6 movies boxset in the future, so I'm not willing to buy it now, but...

No matter what the reviewer may have talked himself into, having the ghost of young Anakin makes absolutely NO sense whatsoever.

Other than that, this version sounds much better than the last "Special" edition, though still not as good as the original. Lucas' pride is a feasome thing. I'm frankly surprised he was able to force himself to put Greedo andn Han's shots closer together. When I think of how many thousands of people must have told him Greedo shooting first sucks, right to his face...it must have killed him just to make a compromise. Like how the Fonz can't say he's "wrong".

Yes, I agree. talking like a anal fan, (like the reviewer) I think that the older Anakin as a 'ghost' makes much more sense. I always thought that as his redemption, like Vader becoming finally the Jedi that he was not able to be, for being seduced to the Dark Side.

Making him younger kill any meaning on that.

Well, not official VCDs. You know what I meant.

You're absolutely right about the LEGIT Video CDs not being the originals, but having read over that review it seems THIS release...

STARWARS001.jpg

relased in Malyalsia by 20th Century FOX / Lucas Films by a company called Video Van in 2000 does indeed not have some of the latest revisions in it as well. In the ones pictured above, Boba Fett is still voiced by the original guy and not Temuera Morrison... The ending still has Anakin's ghost as the old dude from the original and not Hayden Christensen. It seems that they'll be more versions of STAR WARS than not occording to that web reviewer's memory.

It must be the same 1997 US versions.

There are Chinese bootleg DVDs based off what most consider the 'greatest Star Wars release format', the laser disc, available. eBay is covered in them.

If these discs have edge enhancement like previous Lucas shit, fuck these movies hard in the ass.

Also, fuck Lucas for making changes to make his newer stories make sense. I'm talking about line changes. And fuck him hard for changing Bobba Fett's voice to the new Bobba Fett. These fucking movies were classic, and he goes and wipes his ass with them.

Fuck George Lucas, Industrial Light and Magic and Edge Enhancement.

I actually wouldn't mind getting my hands on those chinese GDVDs but then again I'll just have a buddy of mine with the Laser Discs make DVD-Rs and then I'll have both collections. **And yes, FUCK GEORGE LUCAS the fuck!

I hope he still screams like a bitch when he dies (er, I mean Bobba by the way, not Lucas) in Jedi...that always cracks me up. "AIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEE!!" Had some of my friends wondering if he wasn't a woman in the suit, like Leia when she dressed up like a bounty hunter with the altered voice thing. They couldn't accept a guy screaming like that.

Yeah, but I would probably scream like a bitch if I were going to be slowly digested for 1000 years too.

Even though Boba did escape.

The Empire Strikes Back

As you can see in the following shots, the old woman who played the Emperor in Empire has been replaced by Ian McDiarmid (who played the character in Jedi and the recent prequels).

Return of the Jedi

The eyebrows of actor Sebastian Shaw have been erased in the new version.

Naboo is now included among the worlds where celebrations are shown at the end of the film.

Anakin's Force ghost is now played by Hayden Christensen instead of Sebastian Shaw.

This set is a fucking joke. Buy Star Wars DVD's off of eBay that have been transferred over from the laserdisc release. Do not give Lucas your money.

Good review. Amazon has it for $41 (and free shipping), so I think I may finally buy them.

I love how some fans keep telling themselves this. "But in the comic/novel/etc. ...!" It doesn't matter. If it's not in the movie, it didn't happen. If there was a chance for escape, he wouldn't've screamed like that. He knew that was his ass. He screamed like a bitch and then he died. The end.

...There. I think I set that up for a 5 page geek fight. Now, I just sit back and watch the fallout.

edit: P.S. what a kick in the teeth to vetran actor Sebastian Shaw.

The new Star Wars Movies (episodes I & II) suck more dick than TheReverend.

Terrible, terrible movies.

Also, Lucas going back and altering the original movies once again is shameful.

PS: Bobak is the devil for planning to buy the new DVD's.

I have never read anything outside of the movies except Shadows of the Empire. I just know he escapes in some comic or novel. I also don't care about any of that shit.

But I guess I am some kind of fan trying to delude myself into thinking a fictional character is somehow alive.
