Is there a way of pulling off special moves in Street Hoop? Everything seems random to me, yet I see the computer doing moves I cannot. I was wondering if there were specific stick and button combos.
Thanx.

I'm not really aware of special moves - could you list a specific example or two?

The only one I've seen are the "power dunks", and those just happen when you make the required number of baskets.

Hey man, I know your a fan. I'll try and list what I see, although being English I won't use real basketball terms. Dunk is prolly the only real term I know. These are not the power dunks though. I've worked out that you get different moves depending on where you are on the court, but there are some that I've only seen the computer do so far. I'll give it a game once I'm home from work and get back.
Thanks for the help.

I recall reading something a long time ago that it used fighting game sorts of motions to produce all the different moves. To be honest I own the game and have never once even opened the booklet to see for myself and given where it is right now I won't bother. In spite of that I play it and fiddling around with the joystick in various such ways seems to produce interesting stuff.

Position is important as you know and watching the tip demonstrations in the game itself are very useful. Really! Play around a bit and you can figure out enough on your own although I do admit Alley Oops for example (tossing the ball to a team mate who catches & dunks it in mid-air) seems a rare occurance.

Nevermind fancy supershots since you can instead just get a guaranteed 3-point shot when shooting from anywhere in the 3-point zone on your half of the court.

I have the booklet on my lap. Typical of any Neo Geo game, $200 is not enough for a complete set of instructions. What it does list:

About Super Techniques

Dunk Fake
In mid-dunk push A again to lob the ball up and over any blockers (defenders).

Dunk Pass
In mid-dunk push B to pass the ball to near-by teammates.

Shoot Block
When an the ball is coming down into the hoop (whether being dunked or shot) push A to jump up and interfere. Timing takes a bit of consideration.

Rebound Dunk
When the ball is bouncing off the hoop push A to make a jumping catch, and A again to dunk it if I translated properly.

Faint
Tap A lightly to fool a defender into jumping then do as you please.

Alley Oop
When you have a player below the hoop push A+B to pass->mid-air catch, and the next bit I don't totally understand but it almost looks like it's saying to jam the buttons or something. Whatever, give it a go and you can deduce the secret to the AO.

Steal
When the ball is going to/coming from a player's hand (ie. when they are neither holding it nor the ball is on the ground) push B to steal it or if your player is in the path a passed ball is taking push B to so steal it.
