It's True!!

"I received a tip about Ken Jennings this morning which I have pasted below in black-on-black text. If you don't want to spoil your enjoyment of Jeopardy for the next few days/weeks, don't read it. If you want to read it, just highlight the text in your browser. Those reading the site in newsreaders, you'll just have to close your eyes or something. So here's the scoop:

"I was at the taping today of Jeopardy. He lost during his 75th game and eventually won 74 games. He ended up with 2.5M. He got a standing ovation by the crowd. I asked the studio if this was supposed to be a secret but they said we could spread the news. Spread the news. The show should air around the end of October.""

A real winning streak is how many times Bob Barker has been successfully recussitated with a defibrillator back stage during commercial breaks. Fuck jeopardy, Price is Right.. bitch

I shudder to think of all the money he'll soon be making from late night "brain-enhancing" formulas, but the comedy of another Kevin Trudeau infomercial should be nice. :D

While he does make that much money from the game show, he'll get a good chunk taken away because of taxes.

I seem to recall reading that he was some hot shot computer programmer and he wasn't hurting for money anyways. Oh well. I'm sure no one will ever beat 74 consecutive wins. Congrats to him.

I saw a couple of his victories back when I was unemployed and bored all the time. He was a smart chap. I can't imagine it could be a big deal enough for Jeopardy to fix the show in his favor. The show has no juice anymore.

Barker can't die for he is older than Christ, and even if he is mortal, they'll just save his head in a glass jar full of life-saving nutrients a la Futurama. TPIR is my fave as well w/ Press Your Luck coming in a close 2nd.

Someday, I will get to the promised land.....

EXACTLY.
This winning streak did nothing to boost the ratings either as they probably hoped....
I've really heard nor read much about it.
I really could careless too...
The design in which you must use a clicking device to chime in to give your answer is a flawed method leading me to doubt legitimacy.

And yeah, I'm glad that the winning streak is finally over. Why they had to get rid of the rule that limited champions to 5 consecutive wins, I'll never know... here's hoping that they bring it back.

So, he finally lost, eh? Well, that's quite a long winning streak for him(or from anyone). But he'll be taking home at least $1,250,000 due to taxes being cut in half for him, so he's still rich anyway. Now all they need to do is to put back the 5 day champion limit rule so we won't be having this again.

We're all forgetting...

He'll also give 10% to the Mormon church.

PS: If you bring a group of at least 20 The Price is Right, one person in the group is guaranteed to "Come on down"

NG.com get-together, anyone? :D

Ah... Press your Luck :D

Anyway, from what I heard most if not all the money is going to the Mormon church -so somewhere John Smith is smiling.

It closer to 10% like Eric said, and it isn't really all that unusual. It's common practice for deeply religious people from a variety of protestant sects to donate 1/10th of their yearly income to their church, it's called tithing.

Yes it's relatively stupid to give away money that should to go towards supporting your family instead, but hey he won 2.5 million so he'll still take home over a million home to his wife and kids. I just wanted to point out it's not some freaky "mormons-only" thing, infact this presbyterian family down the street have a "We Tithe" bumpersticker on their car. 0_o

(I think the 10% is tax deductable anyway.)

I thought they worshipped Joe Montana?
