I watched this show/series in the 1st or 2nd grade, so around 1989/1990. I'll just paste the AIM conversation I just had with Kid Aphex about it:

dystopian armada (9.47.00 PM): I remember this series as a kid, I only saw it in school, and I can't remember its name, or even find it on the net
dystopian armada (9.47.07 PM): We watched it in the library
dystopian armada (9.47.17 PM): And the story was, it was the future, and the planet had to be evacuated.
dystopian armada (9.47.37 PM): For what reason I don't recall, but there were people who got to leave, and then like, a more primitive people that didn't.
dystopian armada (9.48.03 PM): That last people who were to leave, were stranded.
dystopian armada (9.48.23 PM): And they took refuge inside a library, away from these roving tribes of primitive people
dystopian armada (9.48.27 PM): Like, Mad Max rip-offs
dystopian armada (9.48.49 PM): And every show, they picked a random book out of the library, and whatever it was about was the lesson.
dystopian armada (9.48.56 PM): Or sometimes it was about how to use different things in a library
dystopian armada (9.49.04 PM): Dewey-Decimal system, card index, etc etc

Thats about all I can remember, that and the characters hiding in the libary wore orange jumpsuits (I guess it looked futuristic) and the library was underground, I remember a sealed hatch that led to the surface, and the Mad Max rip-offs would try to get inside every episode.

Any ideas?

I've never heard of it, but that sounds like the greatest show ever made.

It sounds better than the one where he got on the bike and went into the book land to fight the evil wizard guy that was trying to destroy all knowledge and stuff.

that's the bad guys. I don't actually remember the name of the show but if i don't find it now it'll come to me in a dream or something.

in other news: this show kicked Voyage of the Mimi's ass.

Voyage of the Mimi was not good. Not good at all.

LOL, at least it was better than class. And the ocean is cool. Ben Affleck was a little pussy though.

We actually went on a field trip to go see the real Mimi, as it was docked in Glouscester MA, about 30 min from my town. I don't really remember much of it except that, once again, it was better than class.

regarding buro's show, i definitely recall something about headbands. And i think the Wipers headbands had W's on them. There may have been some sort of power associated with said rocking eighties headbands, but mainly i think it was so you knew who they were.

I remember seeing that show a few times on PBS when I was little. I couldn't remember what it was called either which really bugged me. It took me a while, but I finally found it.

Apparently, it is called "Tomes and Talismans" and it is still being distributed to educators by GPN educational media. You can even view some samples in Realmedia format on the site:

http://gpn.unl.edu/midd_series.asp?catalog_name=GPN&category_name=Tomes+&+Talismans&product_id=155

WE WATCHED THIS SHOW!!!!!

LMAO! Classic stuff.

I went to that site and the first thing I notice out of the corner of my eye is The Reading Rainbow. That show was awesome when I was younger. :tickled:
