the first question is what money do you have for a car and how much income do you produce? Price is a big thing when it comes to cars

lolz ... :tickled:

Dude - you gotta have an exhaust pipe that's at least 6 inches wide ... I mean, you don't wanna be buildin' up back pressure in that MASSIVE 1.8L engine. tickled:

Plus I never miss the opportunity to pollute my environment with high-pitched, squealing engine sounds .... woo WOOOOO!!!!

You guys are too hard on Civics. All because they're ubiquitous doesn't mean they are shitty cars. The Civic Si for example has 160 HP and is a decent performer. I'm not saying it's a top end racing car or anything but it's a good dependable car.

Edit: Grammar.

Your best bet is to go to different websites like autotrader.com to find a good car. I understand your dislike towards Civics since their are so many around that think their 10 second cars. Anyway, if this is your first car your actually going to buy, then just get something that will get you from A to B, cheap insurance, and easy to maintain like an older model Corolla, Integra, Accord, or a 626. Just reconsider getting a Civic, as long as you don't put Altezza lights on 'em or a soup can muffler then you will see that they are good commuter cars. Also, any RWD vehicle for a first time driver is a bad idea, FWD is much better for a first time driver. Or how about borrowing a car from your parents instead, much cheaper than having another car.

Or I could sell you my '91 Camry if you want. :make_fac:

Exactly, Civics are actually pretty good cars and just very dependable. I find it funny that you suggest a car like an Integra when they are just based on the Civic platform. :p

And for those nonbelievers in Civics, please check out the Civic Si, Civic Type R or even Civic Mugen Si. They actually aren't bad performers. I mean the Civic Type R can do 0-60 in 6.8 seconds.

I don't understand why you don't like Civics...

1.) They are amongst the lowest in depreciation.
2.) 35+ MPG can't be wrong.
3.) They look nicer than Corollas.

But then again you are a young fella and none of these attributes may entertain you. What you may listen to, is that if you go Japanese, you will statistically have much fewer problems than most domestic models.

Again there is nothing exciting about a grocery getter but then again they are cheap, reliable, and thrifty transportation; all good things to a first-time car buyer. Plus, you are really not noticeable to the police... driving a model of car that everybody else owns and is known for just not going that fast sort of gets ignored by the cops if they have an itchy ticketfinger.

BTW I have a 2003 Civic 4D auto... I pull 36-40MPG (actually got 42 MPG last week due to 90% highway driving), and it has all the power I ReAlLy need.
