Just wanted to post that my classes at UCF have been cancelled for Thursday, Friday and Monday for the upcoming Hurricane Frances. I'm posting now because I may not be able to post in the near future because my house might not be here anymore or something just as bad could happen. I hope everybody here in Florida pulls through just fine (including people in other states affected by this).

Yep caught news of that, might still be hitting Jacksonville pretty hard too, or somewhere in between. Good luck, sure you'll be fine.

No hurricane love for central NC .... :crying:

WTF, man?

Not that I wanna have my roof ripped off and my games strewn all over the place, but I do love that dark, ominous, pre-hurricane weather. And during a nice, heavy rain I get probably the best sleep of my life.

This thing has me really freaking out because I just bought a house this year, otherwise I wouldn't care less. Luckily though there are NO trees or powerlines in the 'hood so that's one less worry, but still, 2 major hurricanes in one month is a bit much... Hey Gekiga, be safe man, I know this storm is gonna be REALLY bad because of all the debris that's still around from Charley.

I think we will probably be ok here in the bay area, but to the rest of you, good luck and be safe. This storm looks like it could be worse than Andrew. If you're on the west coast, do yourself a favor and dip out for a couple days.

Yeah I agree, they are saying that it's probably going to be worse than Andrew. So people leave your residence if you're on the east coast. You can replace the house and the neo, but you can't replace your life.

I wanted to ask those here who live in FL...

Why do you still want to live there if the threat of losing your house happens like 5 times a year due to hurricanes?

I mean jeeze FL is beautifull and all but why live there knowing these risks?

Tell them to get their asses down to the southwest area. I was just think after you said Clermont how it's up higher than say us in Orlando, but out there's it's wide open with nothing to slow the winds down. Good luck from us in Winter Park.

I guess we just get used to them after a while. I mean, there are natural disasters and bad weather times everywhere in the U.S., so we gotta take the good w/ the bad regardless where we stay.

I just hope that everything will be okay during this storm. I just moved to Jacksonville a few months ago. Hopefully this won't hit around this area.

Well for me it wasn't really a choice to live here in the first place since my dad moved here back in 1998. As for now I go to UCF because of all the benefits (Financial Aid and such for college). Not sure what I'll do once I get out of college though.

This is actually one of the more active years in terms of Florida's Hurricane season. I lived in the Palm Beach area from 1996-2000 and we were hit by only one hurricane (Irene - Cat. 1).

Florida's a beautiful state, and I'd move back if the cost of living wasn't through the roof. The hurricanes I got used to, as I've been through more living in Texas than in Florida. I do hope my ma vacated to Marco Island before it hits. Anyone know what category Frances is?

Right now? Cat. 4, 145 MPH winds.
Its about the size of florida right now, so the whole state is going to get something from it.

I don't know... it would be kind of funny to see Nesgawa go flying over my house, but I doubt the hurricane would be able to carry him that far.
