...OR you could forget college after graduating senior high, get whatever education you need from the "higher learning" POV by reading and absorbing what you need at your leisure... and storm ride your fuckin' way through 90% of your life with the last 10% spent on contingency backup plans, set up drop boxes with at least $1,800 a gun and a box of ammo here and there, and enjoy your life. Eventually you'll run into an open minded woman who wants to feel the lighting crack as you ride, diggin' you for the "Sporadic" wanderer you are, see just as much of the planet {or country} as the richie rich types, only not $BLINGin' it, or you very well might. *You might spend some nights under a bridge at some point, and at another have the contacts you need to drive around in a super car and jet set with the best of the best.

...bottom line is that what you posted IS NOT the American Dream, that's the bullshit the media and the institutions of education {Public School anyway} have fed to the masses after they strip the individuality from a child, tell them what can and cannot be done, and churn out the said {read your American Dream Quote} person into an economically viable citizen who is not really prepared nor educated to "Survive" in this world, but is a spoke on some politicians wheel, and by the time you get to the middle part of your break down you just stop caring and have joined the other blue hairs in further destroying any dreams your child might have because 8 out of 10 people forget "The fire" of life.

so there IS an alternative, but it's a hard road with no gaurantees, but the examined life from the ground up is the best way to know the score. You can eat the bullshit or you can buck the system and piss off the collective majority who wants to be that way but don't have the balls to. LIVE FOR TODAY because tomorrow you might be dead, then you'll be in a world of shit.

Dude, check out an in-state school, at least for undergrad when they're making you foot most of the bill.

Also, skip the marriage until you're totally ready for it.

Also, get a cheaper home to start off with (~130K is plenty to begin with, and might be all ya need).

And take it easy with those damned credit cards! That 2nd copy of Euro Kizuna can go to someone else!

:D

Other than the mortgage, I don't have any other financial burden to speak of. Thank god I went to college in the early 90's when the college tuition, while high, was not unreasonable. My sister-in-law just graduated from Bentley college (in Mass.) and her tuition was almost 40k/year. WTF? That's ridiculous for a school that is not even top 10 in anything.

Hey it was midnight last night, I was tired and half drunk on a straight bottle of Kahlua and a few shots of Tequila... sorry didn't see the sarcasm. Glad to know you realize that what you posted is "The Great Depression" of the Yakuza Generation {i.e. Loser Generation/ AKA: Nintendo Generation} and that that is the AMERICAN NIGHTMARE and not the dream. How the dead presidents must be rolling over in their graves at what the flower power fuckards did by becoming the system they fought with fornication and LSD, and what we still as a collective body still don't realize we must do.

His speech was great. I was very impressed by his description of living in Austria during the occupation by the Soviets.

I'm glad to see this post and that there are other people that I can relate to. The American (and Canadian) Dream is a powerful piece of BS IMO. Sadly, I can't help but be surrounded by friends and relatives that are suckers to the system. Ironically, my college professors have taught me to question the system.
