I'm talking about the Akumajou Dracula series, of course.

My fav titles to date are:

Akumajou Dracula - SF
Akumajou Densetsu - FC
Akumajou Dracula X ~ Chi no Rinne [Rondo] - PCECD
Akumajou Dracula X ~ Gekka no Yasoukyoku - PSX/SAT
Castlevania ~ Byakuya no Kyousoukyoku [Concerto] - GBA

I like Valis, though granted there are some ports/versions that aren't so hot on different systems.

My fave Castlevania is Akumajou Dracula X68000/PSX

I dont dislike any Castlevania game, though in general the music is crap in the GBA ones.

I've never played a castlevania for longer than 3 minutes.

I like my Castlevania titles in English.

lol

the English version totally ruined the series.

The changed names, even SEX of some characters, IE Sypha Velnamdes, who becaome a MALE in the US... to bad she MARRY Ralph C. Belmondo in the end of the game!!! lol

The three Velnamdes all had different surnames in the US due to bad transliteration... Sypha, Carrie and Yoko.

The list of errors and omissions in the western editions of the Akudoraku titles is so long that come to be someway neverending...

Bah!

The X68000 version (original or PSX port) is classic and good.

Music in GBA is simply... portable, yet not that bad after all...

I don't really care about all that crap. I just play the game, finish it, and that's it. Who gives a shit about pointless characters in an already thin plot?

Perhaps your right, it's probably more of a case that Dracula games annoy me that dont have the "Classic" music tracks like Vapmire Killer or Bloody Tears etc right from the off.

Trust me, you consider that plot to be thin just because you played the western versions.

On the contrary the plot is rather thick and quite intricate, and span from the original FamicomDisk game to the Dracula-kun spin off up to the latest titles.

Ie here is a Belmondo lianeage table:

Man, the Bloody Tears remixes used in the Saturn version of Gekka are simply AWESOME!

I personally believe that Gekka no Yasoukyoku is the best, in every aspect.

No fucking way !
SPAGHETTI ALLA BOLOGNESA ownz.

Back to the topic, Rondo of Blood and Castlevania IV rock my world.

Simon's Quest on the NES simply had one of the greatest OST's of any 8-Bit game. :buttrock:

Yeah its the Saturn version I have, i never played PSX SOTN until this week. It's a shame Bloody Tears only appears while you play as Richter (sans the music menu).

Have you tried Byakuya no Kyousoukyou on the GBA? It's pretty much 'Gekka with a Belmontdo', I mean not the poor Richter in Gekka, but a whole game developed around a Belmondo playability.

Hmmm... that is actually the only GBA Akudoraku I have not played.

Circle of the Moon was a bit simple... while Gyougetsu no Enbukyoku was great.

You really should give it a try. I'm sure you will agree the way the two castles are linked in this one is way more tricky and enjoyable than in Gekka. Moreover, it offer a modern setting with classical whip gameplay!

It's almost a shame this game has not seen a tv-console release, to be appreciated in the full joy of a big screen, but hey... I can always use the GBA player for GC at least! :)

PS
I think the PS2 Castlevania is way poorer of both N64 titles, which were crappy already to say the least...
