I mean the technology is circa like 1992. A decade later these things are selling more than new more powerful consoles and even some low end PC's. Not to mention new games are the price of a PS2 or Xbox. So what's the deal? Were they cheaper originally?

Depends on the titles. Like Mark of the Wolves US will sell for $200 more than the startng price because the supply couldn't meet the demand. Metal Slug 1 has so much demand but the supply is too short as well. But when it comes to the systems, they sell for up to $200 - just for the system usually. It's not a big deal when you consider that the starting price was $600~700 and the games have always been arcade perfect (no other system can boast that). :)

Ok, thanks that really clears up most of it for me. I just can't get over a system and a game for $600 dollars.

Not really. Just buy the older games and you will be set. Fatal Fury, Magicain Lord, Samurai Shodown, and Nam75 are cool games.

Want a cheap Metal Slug? Try ;)

When MS was available for $300, why did no one buy? So what the REAL reason that cause the price to raise so much higher? I was offered a piece of MS a couple of years back for only SGP$380 which is abt US$250 and I turn it flatly down for a copy of FF3!

The Neo Geo was always expensive . When it came out you had to pay $600 and the games were like $250 , So I think its dropped in price ,
