Yeah, years ago.

I plunked down $1 for it, and the damn arcade just ate my goddamn money, didn't even let me play.

I cursed at the shit and left. That's my experience.

Years ago. It was horrible.

It had the original MK mechanics, was as sluggish as the SF EX series relative to it's 2D counterpart. The weapons system was kind of interesting and the graphics weren't that bad for the time but really the series should of ended with MK2.

The best version of this really awful game is MKGold which added a few characters including Goro, souped up the graphics, and was a DC launch title. You can probably find it for $5 on ebay.

Mortal Kombat 4 was alright, didn't have as much hype as the first 3.5 (counting Ultimate MK3), still had your concept of characters having their own little repetitive patterns. I remember when it first came out in the arcade (which was when Final Fantasy VII came out in the US), there was comp in the first couple weeks it was in there, it didn't last long. I gotta admit though, Sub Zero and Scorpion were fun as hell to play with cuz they can just juggle them around. :buttrock:

I don't have arcade screens, but I can post a link to the pictures of the PS1 version. It's on Nintendo 64 as well. And the upgrade MK Gold for DC as mentioned before.

I enjoyed MK4 prolly the 2nd most out of all the MKs second to the #2. The dial a combo was still intact but was a bit better.

You're not missing much from not playing the arcade version compared to console.

I have to disagree with you on the ending after #2. MK Deadly Alliance is an absolutely great game, and the sequel looks to top it in every way.

Yes, and I'm extremely disappointed that Midway hasn't given me a refund yet for all the times I gave that game another chance, even though after everytime I did, I promised myself not to ever play that putrid shit again. :(
