Hi Folks,

I assume these boards are full of retrogamers, otherwise we wouldn't play on Neo Geo so why not speaking of one of the greatest and most enjoyable systems? I mean the NES.

I'm waiting to receive mine and I already bought several games like Super Mario Bros (obviously) and a mint and complete Final Fantasy 1.

I want to say that there are a huge amount of enjoyable games like Kid Icarus, Metroid or the Zelda series.

Do you people own a NES? What do you think about it?

I have a top loader. It carries the most nostalgic value for me, as it is my first hardcore memory of gaming. I had an atari, but it was hard to be inthralled and immersed in atari games, and while I loved arcade games like Galaga I wasn't old enough to really spend a lot of time with them. So, for me some of my most fond gaming memories come from the ol' NES.

Yep, I used to have a TI-994A and a C=64, but the seeds of my gaming destruction and asocial tendencies were sown with the lil' grey box known as the NES. Mine works like shit naturally because it's so old, but a little operation of switching the slots under the hood will fix that.

I believe I own approximently 50 games for the NES, all with the original boxes and manuals.

Favorites are:
River City Ransom
Dragon Warrior IV (Used to have strategy guide for it, but lost it)
Kid Icarus
Goonies II
Mario 2
Bayou Billy

I still love my NES, and I got a Famicom system as well over 200 games, and I once had the opportunity to get a Famicom Disk System, but passed it up cuz of price. I also recommend importing as well if the opportunity comes around.

NES is definitely one of my favorites.... but unfortunately, I have no room for my collection of games, so I am forced to sell off most of what I don't play :(

131 games... look at the "Others" selling forum if you guys are interested! :p

The thing I find incredible is the huge amount of games released on this system. It's totally crazy to hope getting them all. Developpment were surely cheap at that time because there are so many available...

The second thing that amazes me is the price of a complete Final Fantasy. Ok, that game is great. But I bought mine $40. When you see on ebay you can have 10 games for $25... What I'm wondering is "Is a complete FF that rare to be worth $40?"

What's really ridiculous, it's gonna be difficult as hell to complete my Dragon Warrior collection. I already have 1,2 and 4, and the last time I visited New York City, they had a loose copy of DW3 for 40 bucks. Ridiculous I tell ya.

I heard you can get all 4 Famicom Dragon Quest games in one package for really cheap off ebay.

Since y'all dig my NES collection picture, I think I'll post a picture of my Famiclone and my 20 FC cartridges. I already had one but it's rather old, and it's been growing quite a bit since then, so I'm gonna have to take a new picture.

EDIT: I decided to post my old one and a couple others first.

It seem appealing to me too. I don't know how much confidence we can have in this but it definetly is a possibility to buy.

I just bought a new sealed Dragon Warrior for only $9.99. Is it normal?? Seems cheap.

Most people (like me) got it Free with a Nintendo Power Subscription

Dragon Warrior 1 sucks that's why it's free or cheap. Takes eons to level up, and it's a psychodrama having to walk all the way back to the nearest town and take care of an emergency.

Did y'all see the huge differences in Dragon *Quest* for Famicom as opposed to Dragon Warrior? It's hilarious.

What's this? I didn't know the japanese version was majorly different. What makes it worth importing?

Yes, this Super Mario Bros 2 that was made in 1986 is different. It's on the Famicom Disk System that never made it outside Japan. All the music is the same as the first SMB, and you pick to play either Mario or Luigi. In fact, if you're familiar with the Super NES game "Super Mario All Stars", one of the games "The Lost Levels" is actually the SMB2 that Razial was referring to. It's said to be the hardest Mario game ever, not only there are red mushrooms that makes Mario grow, but there are also green mushrooms that easily be mistaken for 1ups and can instantly kill you. Many who played the hell out of the first SMB will fall for it alot, lol.

Just in case, our SMB2, is our version of another Famicom Disk System game "Dream World Doki Doki Panic" all about an Arabian Family. That's why our SMB2 had that Arabian theme to it.

Interesting fact:
The screeching sound effect in Super Mario Bros 3 when you press back to slow down from accelerating, its origin is in the real SMB2.
