Before anyone shouts at me for not reading through the forums - I have. I just want to check that its all good so far - I am a bit of a n00b. :)

I have a revision 1 Hyper Neo - and wired the power harness up to my power supply (the two reds I stacked on the +5V and the two blacks stacked on the Ground) - I only want to have mono sound at the moment, cos thats how my cabinet is setup (it currently has a CPS2 Super Street Fighter 2 in it) but I keep hearing that I need to have a -5V for the sound is this true? Bear in mind that I don't have an MVS cabinet...

Please someone, reply soon,

Thanks,

David

Not a problem at all...We are here to help..

That's Fine..
(Just make sure they are on there Good)

Yes..

You need to run a -5V up from the Power Supply to the Harness..
Your cab may have this -5V in it already..

You have to run a wire to pin E & 5 on the harness as seen in the pic below..The Spot on the second picture where it says white..

I can't answer the Mono question...My mind is blank today..

I need Charles in here.. :help: ..

........................

I get Mono in the Hyper Boards that are missing the extra wires for the Stereo sound .
I get mono from the harness but it's at a regular level and there is no way to adjust that sound due to the fact that on those boards I have no volume switch..
But I get mono from the edge connector without the volume switch being hooked up)
(this has nothing to do with your set-up)

Woah!

Thanks for the responses guys - that was fast!

But as I said - I am a REALLY new at this and you're already losing me here...

From what I understand...

1/ I need to run a wire from the harness (presumably the Hyper 64's Power harness) to the -5V on my power supply.... HOW? Can someone talk me through this step-by-step please. I have no idea where the wire should go on the power harness - getting it to the -5V is not a problem.. I can see the connector on my power supply.

2/ I am a bit lost on the pin E and 5 business - what do I do? What does this acheive?

I appreciate everyone's responses. Thanks for being so patient with me,

Thanks again,

David

Thanks, again a lightning fast response!

Its all so clear now - so will my sound still work in mono through the harness - my Samurai Showdown 2 (64) comes on Mon/Tues - and I want to be ready.

Thanks again to everyone,

David

No..
As I've heard from people who have hooked up the sysyem without hooking up the extra wires to the speakers.
You will get no sound from the harness..

The two "spare" missing Volume knob/plate boards I have seem to put out sound because of the missing Volume knob/plate..
But this is no help to you..

You need to hook up those extra speaker wires to the speakers..that come from the Hyper 64 board itself.

But you will be only hooking up" two" of the wirea and I honestly don't know what two to hook up..If you hook up the right side you'll only get right signal vise versa..

I know it's simple done thing like putting a stereo 4 slot MVS mother board in a Mono cab..I just don't honestly know what wire you should use to create mono.
Problaby would be both the positives but don't do it until verified..

This puts a good question I forgot about.

When I want to play the Hyper 64 Games...
I usually Just hook up the extra wires coming from the Hyper Board to the speakers in my Candy cab and disconnect the wires to the speakers coming from the harness at the speakers(MVS A Slot/Stereo).
Should the speaker wires that are coming from the jamma harness to the speakers be disconnected when hooking this system up in a cab or when permanently installing the extra speaker wires for the Hyper board.

I never thought about this..

Can this cause a problem..(?)
For MONO You'd have two wires coming from the Jamma harness to the speakers and another two from the Hyper 64 to the speakers..
Or does it need to be this way..

I haven't had the time to permanently install a Hyper 64 mother Boards wiring in my Candy cab..

Though it doesn't say anything about removing the speakers wires that are already hooked up..

I wonder now..

Ok After reading stuff in my own threads..

Here's what Charles wrote..

First, the Hyper 64 needs -5V to get the sound to work.

Second, The stereo harness that is included with the Hyper 64 only connects your Hyper 64 directly to the cabinet's speakers. Therefore, you get stereo sound. If you have a cab with one speaker, you do not need the stereo harness. So mono will come out fine from the JAMMA portion of the board.

Third, if you have a dedicated MVS cabinet, you will need to wire the -5V to pins 5 and E from your JAMMA harness to get sound. But if you have a standard JAMMA cabinet, you will not need to worry about this step because -5V is part of the JAMMA standard. But you will have to wire the fourth button for both player 1 and player 2 into your JAMMA harness

.......
So you don't need to hook up those extra wires, your good to go..
......
I'd like to know if if I leave them in when I do hook up the extra wires ..

If you install your Hyper 64 straight to your JAMMA harness and no mono sound comes from it, you may try to hook one set of the stereo harness wires to the speaker. I would use the upper two wires first.

Charles

p.s.- People will not come yelling at you if you have a problem setting your Hyper 64 board into your cab. Instead, people (I as of late) yell at people who come asking about the differences between the rev. 1 and rev. 2 versions of the board. When those differences were discussed a gazillion times on the Hyper 64 section of these forums.
