I first joined this Neo site without owning a system. I soon got into it and purchased a home cart system and some games, it seems that this scene as well as this site have lost their edge and interest to me. I come here to talk about games and it seems their is constant bickering and fighting, every other topic is on TONK(who is so predictable) talking about every decision he's gonna make and then watching the backlash on him. The games are losing their fun as well I purchased some pretty pricy and supposedly quality games like MS3 but I just couldn't get into it because the negativity in this scene and the people who are supposedly hardcore gamers their attitudes suck. ANyway just wanted to explain my concerns about this site and possibly change some peoples attitudes or just make some enemies.

Have you thought that maybe you've changed (interests, what-have-you)?

This scene hasn't really changed all too much. Some people just arent able to keep an interest as long as others.

I've always had a hard time understanding how whatever happens in the "neo geo scene" has an effect on how people enjoy the games...

Bobak I can see where you're coming from, I may have lost interest, but I think it's partially towards the negativity of the scene. I know this has nothing to do with the actual games, but it does to me in some weird way. I'm not as stoked to come to this site as I once was when I first came here, the motivation to buy new games and to chat is not their due to a feeling I might get bashed for having an opinion. I'm getting bored of this hobby because of the people who populate the majority of it. I would like to play in tournaments or have get togethers but they all fall through and gosh I'd hate to meet some of the people here in person(attitudes). Anyways........

That is the most annoying thing about the scene. While I wouldn't say the majority are like that, "the socially-malformed-reject" infestation has always been an ongoing problem. As soon as some disappear, others replace them.

We've already gone through several.

Precisely. If talking about the games and all that comes with doing so has more of an impact on you than actually playing them, I daresay the system's not for you, nor for anyone in your position. The software is what any console is all about. If it can't hold your interest, then dump the system for something better. I'm not trying to shoo you away, but it's just not for everyone.

You really shouldnt let a message board control your life, its a bad habit when you end up thinking about what someone said on the internet and being concerned or annoyed,we are just words on a screen,no point taking it seriously,LWK proved that two people you speak to could be the same person even though you might favor one over the other,a lesson is to be learned from that cos you really dont know who you are speaking to.
Best not worry, dont get angry or irratated in what you see (yeah im a hypocrite, ive done it myself) if you feel like posting even though it wont do any good do it anyway,if the reply insults you,you either ignore or insult back. Its your choice and you have a choice, enjoy your games dont spend more time on the board than you do the games.
Good advice in theory, its also a good idea to put it into practice.

Take us all in stride and give us a chance. I've met a few people on this board, and they are actually pretty decent people when you meet them in person.

If you notice someone making a comment you don't like, ignore their posts for awhile, and give them a chance after some time. Ignoring things you don't approve of can be one step to change it. Take for instance NGF related posts. If any title of a post has anything remotely NGF related in it, I will not read it. I don't mean to insult the people who post it. They have a right to their opinions. I just don't believe NGF deserves my attention. By reading and responding to NGF posts and other ppl, you help fuel the fire. Put the fire out, and ignore what you think is a waste of space, and it will go away.

I've loved Neo Geo since 1991. This forum is great because I share my opinions, I sell games, I buy games, and I talk about games. It is a hobby and a quasi-obsession, but the forum does not rule my life.

I don't get involved in character assassination or politics here. I don't post on topics that involve such and I just ignore people with riduculous posts or opinions. When the scene gets old with people who are more than irritating, I disappear for a while, then come back and chill with those who are new. I'm sure that people have disagreed with me on here before, but that doesn't mean it's not great to have intelligent discussions.

Don't bail on the Neo scene because of a few bad apples. This is the internet and jokers will always pop in and out of chat rooms and forums. A joker wants attention. People who give these jokers attention with 50-post topics are just as guilty of dirtying the Neo Scene. Ultimately, do what you think is right, Ukyo.

Believe me, nothing has changed when you look at the big picture. It has always been like this, and I doubt it will change.

Although many more people are joining this community lately, I see the same trends I've been seeing for years now.

What everyone else is saying is right on the mark. Did you buy a Neo because you wanted an awesome system with fun games, or because you wanted to be a part of the community?

Anyways, you have to take the good with the bad if you want to stick around for a while. True there are some crazy ass people and a lot of jerks, but there are also Neo fans that are some of the coolest people I know.

This community is very fickle. I have seen lots of people come and go in the last few years, but the ones that stick around take all this in stride. Never take this community completely seriously, or you will burn yourself out very quickly. Remember, it never hurts to take a break once in awhile and get away from it all.

Do you want to let a few jerks ruin your Neo experience? Hell no! Just don't take it all so seriously.

I really dont understand how the forum can have even the smallest effect on how you enjoy a game. I personally think you're just blaming the scene for your own dislike of the expensive games you purchased for your Neo. like bomberman said it seems this doesn't hold your intrest and I agree with everything he said.

I like this scene. God knows I spend a lot of time on it recently. I just go through different posts and see what people have to say and if I don't like where people are going with their posts then I move on to another and see what they have to say. I don't get caught up in all the negativity. Sometimes I find it amusing just to read it.
