maybe its a american thing but in England it is very very popular over here and it still owns in funniest to the simpsons and futurama but you can watch the same episode of simpsons or futurama more then you can with family guy.

Family Guy is funny, but no where near as funny as people have made it out to be (it reminds me of Chapelle Show in that regard). I can't believe how many t-shirts I saw of the show at Hot Topic.
Its definitely funnier than the Simpsons have become, but not as funny as their good years (which I agree with Magician, ended years ago).
It's not quite as good as Duckman or The Critic.
I think South Park is the funniest cartoon on TV now.

Oh, and Songohan, the best Quagmire joke, IMO is:

Too bad they seemed to relegate him to the background for most of the 2nd and 3rd seasons.

For the best entertainment I still like the Flintstones. Watching it now compared to 20 years ago I get so many more of the jokes. Definitely a great primetime cartoon, much like the Simpsons (was).
Oh, and Ren and Stimpy was some of the best off-the-wall humor ever.

Other than that, The Family Guy is the king of animated comedies in my honest opinion - but both Duckman and The Critic kick major portions of ass.

the simpsons are the best period.
even their newer episodes, which i sometimes struggle to watch, have this really, dark, cynical joke-or-two in them that make the other 29 minutes of homer getting electrocuted/hit in the crotch/set on fire worth it.

i have to agree on Futurama it is really hit-or-miss show
and as for the Simpsons it has not been funny sines 97-98 that was the last good years of that cartoon
