20 games is great, but Knuckles' Chaotix and Sonic CD are missing... shame.

And about those extra games, I mean... Ooze? Flicky?? Crap. Comix Zone is nice albeit a bit boring and Ristar looks very good but it's also quite repetitive.

There are so many godly Genny games, why do they always use the mediocre/crap games for compilations like that?

Like Takumaji said, those other games have no place here, this is the same modern lame sega through out software.

Sonic Jam > any other Sonic collection, probably ever.

Too bad that Sonic CD is missing, but this will be a SWEET collection if they don't screw it up like they did w/ the DC genny collection.

I have Sonic Jam for the Saturn, and Mega Collection for the GCN, and it's kind of sad that, IMO, the quality of emulation, especially in the sound arena, for the Saturn beats the GCN. And the sound emulation on the DC (Smash Pack Vol. 1) is just horrible. The only game I ever play on that disc is Virtua Cop 2, and that's only because I haven't got it on the Saturn yet.

wtf is comix zone doing on there tho?

sonic drift will be cool, wasn't it only released in japan?

i just hope the emulation doesn't suck.

I thought Sonic CD was excluded because it wasn't a mega drive game. Not sure...
take directly from the article:

And no, the list doesn't include Sonic CD (which is apparently more difficult to emulate than the others).
so maybe it is because it's a mega cd game, or maybe that's bullshit and sega is doing the same with sonic cd as konami did with drac x - i.e. refusing to port the game for reasons unknown.

or maybe they're just saving it for SONIC SUPER MEGA ULTRA SPECIAL COLLECTION!!!

The only technical reason I could think of not to include CD games would be the size of the CD images, most CD games have standard Red Book audio tracks which take up lots of space even as mp3s. On the other hand, there are a lot of Game Gear and MD Sonics on it and these are very small in size, should be enough space left for some CD games like Sonic CD, Snatcher, etc.

Most MD/32x/CD emus I know only support real CDs but not loading data from an iso image, maybe that's another reason.

Ah well... Sonic... most of the time I played the first Sonic on MD anyway. Parts 2 and 3 were okay-ish, but it wasn't until Knuckles Chaotix that I've found a Sonic game interesting again. Later on I played a bit of Sonic 2 on DC, liked it much better than the first one with all that adventure crap.

The size of Sonic cd from what I remember is 108 megs with everything included. I could be wrong but an xbox disc can hold the standard 4.7 gigs. More then enough to port over SEGa cd. It just seems to me they don't wanna do it. I can't see it being that hard to port over.

I would buy a Straight up PORT of Sonic CD (Alone) for Any of the nextgen systems... for 20-30$, If they had decent emulation, significantly faster loading times, and the option to pick either of the Japanese or English Soundtracks... I really liked to the soundtrack(s) to Sonic CD.

$20= on my list of things to buy for the holidays. :drool_2:
As for the lack of Sonic CD, I would be as bothered as the rest of you guys, but I do have a copy of the PC version hanging around somewhere. It's incompatible with XP unless you turn on compatibility mode and 256 colors, though... but I do have access to a Windows 98 machine, so that's isn't as big as a problem as it would have been. I don't know how easy it is to get the PC version, but I have seen a lot of copies around... I got mine at Best Buy as part of a double pack... the other game was a compaliation of Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles (and the two lock ons).

Ill stick to Sonic Jam.

Megacollection on gamecube fucking sucked. The extras were shit, and you had to unlock all the Sonic + Knuckles games. Plus the menus were painfull to look at.

All those GG games are on Sonic Adventure DX anyway, so it doesnt really matter.

That's because sonic jam on saturn wasn't emulated it was a port. :shame: Don't worry Virtua Cop 2, it kicks ass on saturn, and the dreamcast version was nothing but the Windows CE version on a Dreamcast disk.
