What game cliches, themes, game mechanics, or characters are you completely bored with?

I'm sick of seeing:

Use of elements... "earth, fire, wind, water, lightning, etc".

The "defeat the boss and gain his ability" thing (also has a tendency to incorporate the element cliche in many forms).

The thoughtless and lazy gameplay mechanic of "search for the coin with a pegasus on it and backtrack to the statue of the pegasus to use the coin and open the door that you should have been able to blow open with your shotgun".

The red enemy is carrying a finely roasted turkey.

Rumours are always true.

Common in RPGs. If rumour says there's this sword in this cave then it's there.
Imagine some village elder telling you loads of stories about where to find good stuff and like half of them being total bullshit, it could make the game a little more... well interesting or something.

in RPGS im sick of how the main character is always so much stronger than the rest of the group. Most other genres have the character you worked your ass off to get being the best not just mediocre

Why there are loopings in Sonic's world? And if robotnik is so smart... why all his labs/spaceships/whatever have lots of springs, ramps and loops to make easier the navigation to sonic?

Wasn't this just in either Gamepro or GameDeveloper? Still, yeah games themes really haven't evolved too much over the years.

Why are chicks always hot with big boobs... oh no wait I love this "cliche" :D

Appart form that I msut agree with the "element" RPGs - a genre where there seems to be a plethora of cliches -

Its not always bad but it certainly brings down the "joy" a little - people who played the GREAT : Tales of Symphonia should know what I am talking about. I cannot drop teh controller cos the game is thaaaaaaaat good (like once every 2 years good - in RPG) but come on', you could not come up with better stuff than elements?

Survival Horror as a whole (they are all basically the same game with a slightly different story)

Any newer games (and most movies) where this devil-may-care, ass-kick, curb stomp, badboy character goes to kneel in the church, pray to god, make the sign of the cross before cocking his shotgun and leaving to kick some major ass in the worst fucking way....

Now....Its personal.... *ka-chak!*

Im sick of the main character in RPGs always being like 15 years old, rude, selfish, whinny, effmanine looking ect.. too many cliches to mention.

I understand that thats the average age of the target audiance but come on. If I play another game where I have to be some teenage asshole whos been blessed by some goddess out to save the world with a rag-tag group of friends Im gonna be fucking sick.

Im also sick of bad voice acting ,cut scenes that cant be skipped, and cinemas that use in game graphics instead of rendered CG or animated sequences.

And Im really sick of all this STEALTH action bullshit.

I now find that funny, but at the same time pathetic. They even added that in the back of the American Final Fantasy X-2.

"This time, it's personal", in a game that has 3 "girls" as the main chacters.

Yeah but, that's been a major part of the Tales series since the first one almost 10 years ago.

And I am sick of only having punch, kick, and slash buttons in fighting games.

These developers need to be more original!

How about a hug button?

Because then we would disappoint all the prepubescent boys who are too busy pretending they are jerking off to Yuna from FFX2. I guess they'd rather do that than actually play a game with a bad ass lead.

I hate those games where in order to complete the level u need to collect 500,000 coins, plus 3 hidden special coins, and 30 other types of coins. I guess it's just a bit tired to go over the level again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again........

Women in games are always buxom, and more agile not necessarily as a result of their generous assets. I hate that. :D

You know what cliches I like? The inclusion of deadly characters with their faces partially hidden, Vincent, Shadow, Grobyc, etc....

Getting back to the shit I REALLY fucking hate: Anyone play those Breath of Fire games for PSX? I wanted to finish them pretty badly but all the sidequests and minigames made me turn away in disgust..... :oh_no:

that reminds me...

all kof girls (as an example) have more or less big boobs. But reading their profile you discover that mai only have 87cm of perimeter...

what's the deal? Most of my friends have 90/95 and are not nearly as big as kof's breasts. Heck, i have a friend with 105 and it's more or less like mai...

If japanese people think that 87 is huge... better don't come to spain :P

The Idea that games don't get you hot girls.

I don't know what the hell people are talking about. All I need do is say: "Hey Baby, I have an AES at home". Then I follow up with:" No bootlegs honey, I only have the real deal". If I really need to work em, I show em my supergun, and next thing I know, they're all over me, luvin' it up till the Bary White collection stops.

- the whole pokemon, digimon, yo-gi-oh blah blah cards crap.

- 95% of American-made games (especially in terms of character designs)

- horrible voice acting.

- Resident Evil and GTA clones (with the exception of few games)

- using female characters to market a game.

- adding some real life activities as gameplay elements in games (such as the diet system in GTA:SA). or getting too close from reality.

- complicated leveling up systems and boring/slow battles in RPGs.

- high rate of Random battles in RPGs.

so true, but not only with KOF (FF XII cough *coughs [blood]*)

Am I to believe that Astaroth is only 6'3, 209 lbs? Motherfucker looks like he's got that many kilos at least.....

- Overhyped story-less "free" games in which you can kill/destroy everything.

- FPS

I seriously don't understand why people love this kind of games.
