Well, since I was bored, I did this, I took some of my dvds of anime and got the textless intro (except 1, seems like it doesn't exist heh) anyway, hope ya enjoy. (all info is from Animenfo.com) BTW these are encoded with Xvid and all have AC-3 audio, remember to get those codecs, each one is about 20 megs.

1st one: Gravion (just released by ADV a few months ago)

gravion.jpg

Intro: http://www.koolpages.com/coolmod/Gravion.avi
Box: http://alex.cmaylo.com/gravionbox.JPG
Info: The year is 2041 AD. An unknown object from the enemy suddenly appears in the solar sytem. An enemy named Zerabaia. Destroying the base of every planet it crosses, the vicious weapon draws closer and closer to Earth. But, this invasion of Earth was already known...

Secretly preparing for battle, a man named Kurain Sandoman commands the the army Aasu Garutsu to fight back. And their trump card is the "Gravion". A human shaped Mecha that was made to unite with with other huge units named GD.

That day, when Zerabaia began its attack on Earth, a young man was looking for his sister who's disappeared. Off to look for clues, he sneaks into Sandoman's base. It was there, in the hangar, that he met another mysterious young man.

"You're the same as me... I knew you were here... Another boy like me".

He gives a smile that seemed to show he doesn't have a care in the world. He was main pilot of "God Gravion", Touga. The GD that Eiji dreamt of escaping in in a dream.

Eiji was suddenly registered automatically as a pilot and was forced to go out into battle. Trampling through the towns, the huge weapon shaped like a sword, Zerabaia, appears in front of Eiji's GD. And so Touga's Grankaiza-, Luna, Eina, Mijiki and a mysterious girl rushes to its place.

Eiji doesn't even know what he's doing in the cockpit. And so, the 5 Mechas join and form "God Gravion"! The Earth's fate is now in these 5 young people's hands!

Opinion: I personally like this anime, has a great mix of action, robot, humor. Although ADV is only on the 2nd dvd (out of 6) thats hoping that they do the sequal.

Next is: Sorcerer Hunters

sh.jpg

Intro: http://www.koolpages.com/coolmod/SorcererHunters.avi
Box: http://alex.cmaylo.com/shbox.JPG

Info: A trio of further adventures of the Sorcerer Hunters. A trip to the hot spring heats up Tira and Chocolate, as Carrot goes hunting in a "target-rich environment". After that, how horrible can the Necromancer be? Plenty, it turns out, as his power is so much that even Carrot's terrible Zoantropy is not enough to destroy him! After a close shave, the Hunters are presented with anopportunity of a lifetime - the blooming of a legendary cherry tree, which happens only once every ten years. The legend says that a couple that professes their love under its blossoms will share eternal love... but which of the girls will manage to corner Carrot first?

Opinion: This really is one of my favorite animes, its an oldie, but a very good one, mix of action, magic, a lot of humor and the story is quite good. Pick the Collectors edition for $35 or so (includes 26 episodes) although it doesn't include the OVA, but its only $13 or so. (plus rightstuf.com is having a sale on the video tapes of em, 0.99 each)

Next: Lost Universe

lu.jpg

Intro: http://www.koolpages.com/deadhunter/LU.avi
DVD: http://alex.cmaylo.com/ludvd.JPG (no box was released)

Info:Kane Blueriver and Canal, his AI companion, are trouble contractors who take jobs which require their special skills. This could go from armed escort, to patrol, to capturing dangerous criminals. Milly is a private eye who has to be the best at everything (wuchuu ichi!!). When the three of them get together, they run into one mess after another, gradually uncovering more of a mystery that ties the legendary Lost Ships to all of their pasts, bringing them closer and closer to a discovery that something called Nightmare would rather not have them find ...

Opinion: Another great anime, mix of spaceships, humor, action and good music. Although for some reason the sound is very low on the dvds. You can pick up the dvds on ebay for a couple of bucks.

Last: Saber Marionette J (J to X, Again and R)

smj.jpg

Intro: http://www.koolpages.com/deadhunter/SaberMJ.avi
Box: http://alex.cmaylo.com/smjbox.JPG

Info: Info: Late in Earth Century due to overpopulation, efforts to colonization are made. However a mishap happens for a group of colonist early on for them in this story. This is a story of their legacy continuing their memories, living on a hostile planet of Pontais and Plasma with a relationship involving a love story that has gone wrong. Here in this world robots called Marionettes are used for fighting, completing menial labor and the replacement of the female population.

Opinion: This anime really kicked ass, (the entire series, although the animation quality went down a lot in J to X) Its mostly humor, some action packed moments, but mostly just humor. If you can pick up the ultimate collection which includes all of Saber Marionette (except R) it is also signed by the co-creator (not some crappy digital sig, but a real one) Problem is, they just discontinued it, and it seems very hard to find, but if you are desperate, you can always pick it up from ebay (just under $200, or barnesnoble.com which is something like $180)

Comments about the animes? Anyone think this was worth doing? heh

I enjoyed all of the above and own the R1 DVD releases of all of them. With Saber Marionette J I have the box signed and all that crap. I did not, however, enjoy the one SMJ OVA set, can't recall which it was, but the animation quality was piss ass poor and the story was total shit. Everything else in the set is good however. Since the OVAs are in the box, I own them but will never watch them again.

Did you also know that Media-Blasters just recently released Saber Marionette R on R1 DVD? The video quality is fucking AMAZING. The only gripe I have is that they blacked out the credits on the final episode to put in English credits, but all the other credits are Japanese first, so the show is 99% unmolested. MB did an outstanding job on it, I'd actually say the video quality is damn close to R2 Japanese quality.

Lost Universe was good, but not great. It's a fun series and if you can find the R1s cheap it's worth picking up.

Gravion is not my favorite. It's an OK super robot show, but not what I'm looking for in my super robots. Love the big breasts and all that, but that's never a selling point for a show, and if the big breasts are use in marketing it's never a good sign (not that ADV did that with this one). It's a good show, but not outstanding. Only the first 2 R1 discs are available at the moment, as you stated.

Sorcerer Hunters is a damn fun series. Have you seen the OVAs as well as the other stuff? The OVAs are a bit 'naughtier' than than the TV stuff, but it's still a fun series either way.

Is it worth doing these intros? I hate to say it, but probably not. Why? Because no matter how valued your opinion is or isn't, 90% of the people here won't read through your entire posts, nor will they actually act on the information you are providing. If you offered a link to the entire series for free, you'd see a shitload of action, but since they have to do the leg work, it's not going to happen.

The other 10% of the people, like me, will read your posts and actually act on it if it sounds like something they'd like. Since I already have the series you've posted this time out, I don't need to do any further investigation.

You do seem to pick some decent series to preview. Mezzo TV is coming out this Fall from ADV and I'm checking it out, in part to your previous review.

I'm big time anti- bootleg, and 100% anti fansub if a show has been licensed in the US. Either way I never download fansubs, as I have 1420 DVD releases with a pile of at least 30 DVDs in a pile I have not watched yet (Gravion disc 2 is in the pile, though I hope to get to it really soon...).

I like what you're doing here, but it's likely falling on deaf ears.

edit- reading through again, I noticed you commented on 6 discs for Gravion being a possibility. I'm not entirely sure, but I believe they have already announced they have the second season as well as the first. I think this series also had an OVA episode, which they are including somewhere along the way. I COULD BE WRONG concerning the OVA episode, but I'm 99% sure on the 2nd season rights going to ADV.

Yea, I just purchased Saber Marionette R for $12 through deepdiscountdvd.com and I hope to get it soon as its the only one I haven't seen. I heard they haven't released it until now because the originals were lost. The J to X animation really depresses me because it looks digitized.

I agree Gravion is not a favorite, I guess the only thing that got me into the show was the robot heh.

Hey if at least 1 person looks at it im happy. :) The intros of anime's is usually the thing that gets me into the animes. So I try to show off the intros to get other people interested.

It was J to X I didn't like.

It was probably one of the studio's who did it first attempt at digital painting. They draw the outlines, scan it and paint it using the PC. All Anime is done like this for the most part now, but you can really tell on the older stuff.

The Sorcerer Hunters OVA is a bit naughtier, thus a bit funnier IMO, than the TV series, though if I recall correctly it's just like a set of 1 off episodes, nothing tying them all together like there sort of was in the TV series.

For me the intros don't really get me pumped for a show. Not so much now, but previously it seemed like studios would go all out on the opening then when you watch the show you're like... meh, this animation isn't anywhere near the opening's quality! Not so much the case anymore, but I still try not to decide on a series based on an intro.

If you keep posting, I'll keep reading. :D
