If you pay attention to the site Newsgrounds, you will have undoubtedly already played a little, fun Flash-driven action game called Alien Hominid. I always thought they were very well put-together, and obviously inspired by Gunstar Heroes, Metal Slug and other classic 2-D hectic action-platformers.

Well, apparently they are now making a console game (they don't say which console), but their publisher is O~3 Entertainment (?), which is headed by "the legend Bill Gardner, the former President of Capcom North America", their words, not mine.

The link gives you a video of the game in action, but it's a pretty big file:
http://www.alienhominid.com/video.html I really like the art style.

Looks kinda cool, no?

Seems like PS2 and Gamecube ... for October.

I find it weird that Sony would let such a game be released when they turn down MS.

A friend had just told me about this when I mentioned that I had just gotten Metal Slug X for MVS.

It has a very Viewtiful Joe look to it with MS=type gameplay.

It bet it will come out for Xbox, and possibly GC.

!....is this....REAL!?

it loks like a flash movie turned into a video game. This looks extremily promising. My hopes are officially up.

Looks pretty good! Although I probably would've preferred a different art style, this one does have a certain appeal to it. And it looks like a lot of Sluggish elements are there, which is always nice. I'll buy it when/if it comes out. :)

Looks like a fun game, but the art is kind of "meh" for a commerical release.

Yes it's real check out the press section and the gameplay movies on gamespot it looks fucking awsome and IMO at 16 levels it looks to be alot more of a game than the last two slugs combined.

I've been psyched about this game for awhile now. Dan Paladin, the person who worked on the graphics is the same guy who runs www.synj.net so it might not look like alot in the screen shots but once in motion the game looks amazing.

Having never played the Original Alien Hominid, all i can say is: Wow this game looks to kick major ass. I loved this quote:

The explosions are (in our opinions) the greatest hand-animated explosions to ever grace a television screen. Some of the bosses are so huge that we need to zoom out the camera to show them in their entirety (it's a cool feature, kinda like the scaling in Samurai Shodown). ).

They're obviously adamant SNK fans so in a way this game was custom tailored for the people on this site.

It goes further than that Newgrounds originally started as a Neo-Geo fan magazine, and one of the project leaders Tom Fulp (founder of NG)is a confessed longtime Neo-Geo diehard.

Only good things can come of this. :buttrock:

I was wondering when somebody was going to break the news about this game. I rarely visit Newgrounds, but given what the Flash game has, I think the console version will be excellent.

Despite the fact its a total Slug rip-off.

A flash game turned into a commercial console game? Let's hope this does not turn into the next Super Bobble Pop.

It looks interesting though.

They also referenced the zoom feature in Samsho 1...

I'm hoping this gets a US release. I'd totally buy it. Reasons to get a GC for xmas are increasing...

I've wondered the same thing myself. If Sony's got such a problem with 2D games, how is it that this one is getting through?

Apparently, no Xbox love either, :crying: at least, not at this point.

It's a domestically developed game and as of the time it's only confirmed to for a US release...
