Today I finally reached Amakusa on 1 credit with Gen-An (MVS difficulty lvl 4), who I've been using since I first played SS. I scored 520000+. Dunno if this is worthy of anything or not.

What I want to know, are some techniques against Amakusa. He keeps strafing back and forth across the field and I find it quite hard to make contact with him. Any techniques are much appreciated... :buttrock:

For the first round, I would recommend trying to land one hit and then playing keep away, jumping constantly away from him at the other end of the screen.

After that, pray?

Gen-An is a good character to beat Amakusa, his jump hard slash is good and his medium standing and low slash have a good range.

Only do safe hits, never get too close to Amakusa or he will hit you or throw(takes half of the energy), if you get too close just throw him and you will be ok.

if you see that he´s going to do that stops in mid air and charge against you in a fire ball special, just go to a corner jump up you might even hit him while landing.

the following strategy works with any character, just be more careful in the higher difficulty levels:

Round 1
maintain a crouching block (in Gen-An's case he'll crawl backwards so just be ready to block) and just wait...
Amakusa will eventually walk up to you for a free grab...after executing the grab(meaning Amakusa has fallen to the ground) position yourself about the same distance from him as before and wait for him to approach for another free grab...rinse and repeat, but you must stop once his energy nears or enters the flashing part of his bar cuz that's when he stops fooling around

Round 2
try to start off using the same technique as before, but if he behaves differently forget about it and just play defensively...your best chance is if you catch him in midair with a strong attack of higher priority than his (if you can manage it, you may want to try using Gen-An's poison attack as a means to keep him at bay)...

this always works for me, but again on higher levels you have to exercise more caution as he won't fall for it so easily...

glad to help...I've been using that technique since way back, and people who didn't have a clue would be shocked when I used Galford/Hanzo and watch Amakusa walk into numerous poundings of Strike Heads/Mozu Otoshi...

Just use Jump + AB the whole Time! Just perform it with the right Timing! That´s it!

I´ve passed Samsho by using Shiranui Gen-An w/o losing a Continue on MVS-Difficult easily!

I utilize the jump + AB often, but I prefer to poison them, I have a nice technique that works more often than not! ;)
