Apparently PS2 Socom II online in terms of hours played accounts for the whole of Xbox live.

That is to say, more people play Socom II online on PS2, than all Xbox live titles together.

I find this bizarre as its hardly heard of, Xbox live "appears" very popular.

Anyone do the PS2 online dance here, how is it??

I think it's probably just a matter of simple arithmetic - PS2 just has a much larger installed user base. Most people who have both seem to prefer the xbox live setup, from what I've heard.

Thats because Socom 2 is the only good online game for the PS2,While Most of the XBox live games are great.

No, it doesn't work like that.
Going by that thread of thought, it would seem Socom 2 is better than all XBox live games together.

Anyways, as Galfordo mentioned, it's simply because Sony has a much larger following worldwide. XBox Live isn't even established in most of the game-playing world, probably.

Even though I barely use it, I really like Xbox Live's set up. I think the price tag for it is well worth the effort that Microsoft puts into upkeeping and maintaining the service. I have yet to come across an online enabled PS2 game that I actually want to play.

Maybe when Halo 2 comes out, things will change.

I'm almost positive they will. If Halo 2 can't draw more people to XBL, nothing can. It and SF Anniversery Collection are the reasons I want to get on Live.

I know that I intend to play only my friends and NG.com guys at this game. I seriously don't want to face the Halo 2 online community alone. There's enough bumpkins and fucking retards out there to scare me away from just playing random games in PGR2. Not to mention I know that basement-dwelling faggots will do nothing but play all day and get so good at it I'll just be embarassed like a child when I try to compete.

Maybe the fact that if you have the xbox modded in a ghetto way, like me, you can't access XBL.

Sounds like bullshit. It wouldn't be the first time that Sony has lied or worded something in a certain way to confuse people. Of course there are all those "OMG ASL" Socom morons, so who knows...

The whole article makes Sony seem as though they're arrogant assholes though, which is exactly what they are.

I don't trust it.

SOCOM II = free, AFAIK.

Free > $5 a month (perhaps that's related to all this?)

PS2 online is shit, however, if there are more people who own the PS2 modem, it's because the userbase is only 10 times that of the xbox.....

I bet more people play on Live consistently.

Whenever I get on to play Resident Evil Outbreak, I usually see about 200-300 people on ar once, I don't know if that's a lot, but its a good amount of people to play with.
