I saw a ton of movies this week (Zatoichi, The Village, Garden State, Harold and Kumar, Shark Tale [sneak at Dreamworks]), just curious what people thought about Harold and Kumar go to White Castle.

What did you think?

Harold & Kumar was worlds better than Dude Where's My Car IMO, and I enjoyed it a heck of a lot better than the tried-to-be-a-little-to-dark-and-disturbing-quasi-Cyberpunk Remake of The Manchurian Canidate. I'm not big on comedies really, but I'll buy H&KGTWC when it comes out on DVD.

It was an okay flick, nothing spectacular.

The film did have its fair share of funny moments, although some of the materials were just a little too lame for my taste.

It's definitely a better movie than Dude,where's my Car,though.

Kumar>Harold.

I liked it a lot, as did the group of friends I went to see it with.

I wouldn't put it above or below the other stupid/humorious movies, but right along with them.

I did, however, find Anchorman to be funnier.

Was Shark Tale as bad as it looked bobak?

(Everyone says the Village sucked, and I tend to believe them as all of MNS's movies so far have been shit)

I thought it was hilarious, but I went in there expecting nothing but a good laugh. That helps a lot.

Eh, it was pretty decent. Nothing amazing, but it was certainly better than the snoozer "ice Age"

I saw Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle on Monday night. Man there was like seven other people max. I really enjoyed this movie a lot and I should fully expect my stoner friends and my sister to see this movie sometime soon.

I loved this one. Instant Stoner Cult Classic.

The hook, of course, was White Castle. Why haven't they thought of this before? Anybody who's ever been to a white castle knows the kind of people you see there, especially at weird times of the night/morning. I think they could have capitalized on the location more, but then it would just be a 2hr white castle commercial, which would be lame. Imagine a Clerks with Stoners, burnouts, weirdos, freaks, losers, and bums hanging around at 2am eating shitty little burgers talking about pop culture, making sex jokes and ethnic/racial jokes.

One thing I liked is that it wasn't afraid to make fun of everything and everyone. It wasn't PC in the least.

Twinkie - Yellow on the outside, white on the inside. Classic! There are some members here who are inverted twinkies.

The extreme dudes were funny as hell.

And no viewing of H&K Go to White Castle would be complete without - you guessed it - a stop at White Castle. But what about the west coasters who don't have White Castle? Midwesterns and Easterners have had it for years. Southerners have a knock-off, Krystal. Kinda weird, considering all these shitty fast food joints originated in CA...

Indeed, it did suck. It's built up as one thing and when you find out the truth, it's a let down alsong the lines of Unbreakable. One of those"I watched a whole movie to find this out?" It didn't even scare me or creep me out. Total letdown indeed.

Yea, no shit. It was lame as all hell. One step up from "but it was all a dream."
The only good part of the whole movie was the coversation between the quiet guy and the blind girl (forgot their names - who cares).

Sixth Sense was a masterpiece, but this was a lazy day for shamie.

Harold&Kumar < Anchorman

I just didn't think it was all that funny. But then of course...I didn't care much for Dude Where Is My Car either. Maybe I was expecting something else or maybe more, who knows. I damn near walked out of the theatre though; haven't done that in a while.

Bobak, I thought it was good, but nothing spectacular. It's a "stoner" type comedy, and is probably destined to go down in film lore as one of those "cult" status films. The biggest thing about this movie is... it's the first major movie to star Asian Americans (Cho and Penn). I saw this on Conan O'Brien the other night when Cho was on the set with ole Mr. Pasty. :p

supposedly the movie is doing well and I'm happy that it is. I saw it a month before it came out, and I even got to meet Cho and Penn. :)

I loved the village, if you think it sucked because it didn't scare you, tough. Sure maybe it was billed like that but I thought what it said about humans was far more interesting than any monster. The movie is actually very believable/possible and the acting was great. Tops movie I thought.

Yeah, he was in Better Luck Tomorrow. I think his character name in that one was Steve... he ended up getting killed by the Asian guys in a garage somewhere. Apparently, this happened in real life somewhere in Orange County California. The director Justin Lin denied it but the "coincidences" are shockingly similar.

Most of us know that Lin is bullshitting. I mean, honor roll Asian students... who suddenly want to commit a house crime... ends up killing the guy in a garage who agreed to set up his own rich parents' house for robbery... come on.

Cho was also in the American Pie movies. Where, "instead of solving the problems... he created some." (in the words of Conan O'Brien, in regards to the "Anti-Asian Stereotyping in Movies" discussion he had with Cho last night)

Better Luck Tomorrow disturbed me like hell.
Us East Coast Asians look down upon those crazy Cali FOBs :P

But no, Steve.
A lot of the points brought up in that movie surprisingly resonated with me and a lot of the Asian people I knew who watched it. There are a lot of criminals amongst us... and yes, they're honor roll students hehe.
The number one guy in my state for math is Chinese, 100x smarter than me even though I'm way above the 99% of my age in this nation... and yet, he got arrested for arson hehe. Not to mention that one gal I knew... 12 years old, skipped 3 grades (will be 13 and a high school senior this year) who liked to get freaky.

Weird people.

Hey don't be getting the Japs and Chinks mixed up :P
We say L's and we say R's. Besides, we enunciate better than the people on MTV anyways :P

In all truth though, it's no different from New Yorkers making fun of Texans.
