HALO IS THE MOST OVERHYPED CRAP EVER!!!
HALO 1 sucked ass, it was just a clone of other games. Why is this so hard to see for so many people. There are people still currently playing the first one all the time and it still sucks. Why the HELL would you look forward to HALO 2 over DOOM 3. It is the sequel to DOOM 1 and 2. Maybe you forgot that ID started 3D first person shooters and have ALWAYS set the standard. After Wolfenstein, every 3rd person shooter copied it, same with Doom, and almost every shooter after Quake and Quake 2 used the same graphic engine. What other games use Halo's...........NONE!!!!!! You can go ahead and think Halo2 or Half Life2 will be better than Doom3, but that fact is that this game has been under development and people have been waiting for too long for it even to be compared. But, then again I'm just stating my OPINION, but it seems so black and white to me. Also with Trent Reznor doing all the sound and music in Doom3 just like he did for Quake 1, and the sound and music in that game completly suck you into that dark world.

Every screenshot I've seen of Halo 2 look like a screen shot of the first game, so what are the improvements they've been working on for the last few YEARS!?!?

ive gotta agree on this one. yeah i liked the first couple of hours of halo 1 but it got very repetitive. multi player was tight though.
comparing the vids of the two games (the multiplayer one from e3) and after reading the gamespot review im definitely more pumped for halo 2 than doom3.
i know doom3 is good but i get the feeling theres a lot of hype there.

We are talking about Halo 2/Doom 3 here, not about other games the previous designers made. Bungie is (was) a brilliant developer. They have more GOOD games to their name than iD does. More than many "respected" developers do.
Talk as much shit as you like about halo (i thought it was fun, but nowhere near the "killer app" that xbox fanboys make it out to be), but bungie is awesome.
It was a dark day for gaming when MS bought them.

I saw the trailer for Halo 2 at the movies the other night and it looked awesome. They had that shit in surround sound and everything. Everything appears to be on a much grander scale than in the first game. Fuck, the trailer was more exciting than the movie (Bourne Supremacy).
I also read Fall of Reach in anticipation of this game. It's very similar to Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card, only not as good. Still, I thought it was pretty decent read. I was also reminded of the film Soldier while the reading book.
Doom 3 looks really good too though. My pathetic computer can barely run Windows XP, much less Doom 3, so I have to get the Xbox version. I hope the Xbox version can retain some the game's aesthetic qualities without having to sacrifice too much. I am looking for the Xbox exlusive 2 player co-op mode.

Doom3 looks good, but I don't like the idea of having simple geometry and extremely complex texturing / bump mapping abuse.
I am still looking forward to Halo2, since I loved Halo on multiplayer.
