Why is Doom running so slow? =(

I just got Doom 3...I love the game but it runs slow on my comp, and when I look around fast there is clipping(I think that is what its called, the walls seem to move).

My Specs are:

P4 2.8
Radeon 9800 128mb
1 Gig Ram

Shouldn't I be getting better results with this setup? I have all the latest drivers.

I'm pretty sure thats the weirdness I'm experiencing, although its not constant. I guess you have to enable VSYNC so the textures/polys don't tear.

It just crashes and goes to my desktop at random, no error messages or anything.


I just built this PC a couple of days ago, and i havent had any other problems with it

1. Go to run
2. Type dxdiag to check your Direct X9 compatibility
3. Please make sure that your hardware accelaration (video/sound) is set to max:)
4. Whats the version of your Dx9? a b or c?

Do visual artifacts appear on all your games? or just this one?

Just a quick test switch your desktop resolution down to 640x480 re-boot and launch the game from there and see what happens

This is why I don't play games on the PC.

Well, that and the cost.

ng2, uninstall it, update the video drivers, reboot, install again.

I've got an 'AMEN BROTHER' to that.

I fix PCs for a living, I don't want to have to do it at home, just so I can play some fuck ass game. Sure D3 looks good, and I want to get it, but I'll wait for a price drop and the first patch.
