Was the Virtual Boy that bad?

I remember playing one a long time ago...it was cool, but it hurt my neck. Wasn't worth $250 though.

But I might be getting one again, just because of how insanely cheap they are on eBay (we're talking under $10 here, folks). Anyone have any good/bad experiences with them? What are the games to have? I never object to getting another console, and these seem pretty cool.

I got mine new for $20. It's not bad, if you're really bored, the games are a lot of fun. All 5 of them.

I thought VB debuted at $150? I can't remember now... Anyway, Vboy isn't that bad, some games (Like Red Alert) really show off the 3D effects, and they are fantastic. There are 2 major flaws with the system.

1) Most of the games suck and don't take advantage of the 3D effects

2) All games are just shades of Red so it gets old real fast. Even some really nice graphics can't really be showcased because it is just more red

It was a cool system, and a nifty idea with poor execution. They should have waited until they can produce a full color version at the same price. Too bad VBoy's failure thwarts such efforts.

I love it - especially the highly underrated migraine power-up that was included free with each system. Very novel at the time, and even today.

If you can't help complaining about back/neck pains when standing up then just lay down with the VB being supported by your chest. It helps a lot and you can enjoy the games more. I believe there was something like 24 games released but some are too expensive (Gundam anyone?). Mario Tennis on the VB owns every other incarnation of it, simply put.

My feelings shared. I actualy thought several of the games were really cool, but I always got a headache anytime I played it more than 20 minutes at a time.

VB's where I live costed $299.99 when released. That system gives me a fucking migraine. :(

I've owned 2 systems with like 8 games or so...never had it to too long for reasons like that. Iam just glad I didnt pay the $300 price tag for it. Anyways the games weren't bad but it just wasnt for me. Never again!

I love my VB. I've only got two games, 'Galatic Pinball' and 'Vertical Force' (a Hudson shooter!), and I've never gotten a headache from playing mine.

The only drawback to the VB is that it takes up a lot of space. Other than that it's a neat little system.
