I am happy to see them lose. Maybe this will be a wake up call to play FUNDAMENTAL BASKETBALL

the only reason they are losing is because the majority of the best nba players refused to go. You think they would do that shit if Shaq and the rest of the starting allstars were over there. The have a handfull of stars, and that's it. That's why they aren't going to win.

They just lost to one of the worst team that are going to the Olympics. Team Italy Had 0 NBA players on there team.

The NBA is not known for have players that play good FUNDAMENTAL basketball, You have a team of guys that think they are playing street ball.

That is the reason they lost.

I don't see why this even matters the US does have the best nba players but none of them will play because risk of injury and they worry about terrorism(in real words lazy). Not to mention the coach sucks too.

team usa has the best players in the world, no contest, but that doesn't mean they can play as a team. most of the players are young phenoms like james, amare, jefferson, wade, boozer, carmello, fuck half these guys were rookies last year or the year before, none of them know how to play team ball yet. the oldest player on the team is iverson and he's only 29. tim duncan is their only REAL power player, he is also probably the best player in the world next to Shaq (and if you count kobe up there), after all the originals backed out. he doesn't play center in the NBA but will probably be playing center most of the games.

so you basically have A.I. running point (when he isn't benched for missing practice)and Duncan in the middle, surrounded by a bunch of rookies and 2nd year guys, who half of aren't even all stars yet (but could be someday). i won't be surprised if they lose, but they do have the most talent player by player, but tell that to the 2004 lakers....

think of who was on the original team, shaq, kobe, big ben, t-mac, KG, Kidd etc etc, all backed out for some reason. if that team went the other countries didn't even have to show up. Duncan and A.I are the only 2 originals that stayed.

Hate to break it to you but with that team any coach could win a title. Detroit caught fire at the right time(more like that SG man he's good). And if he's so good why couldn't he win one with the 76ers?

What a fantastic game to watch. It's been a while since I've seen such entertaining basketball. Italy deserved to win, hell, did you see some of USA's turnovers? Im glad a no name team has finally brought the US to its knees, maybe this will give them a reason to get off their asses and play as a team. Germany's up next, and they are considered to be much better than Italy. Dream Team? Hardly. Bunch of youngsters who have to learn how to share the ball effectively? Yes.
