I'd like to hear some things that you guys have done gaming wise that you feel especially proud of. Speed runs, beating a notoriously hard boss, mastering a hard combo, whatever. Even if you didn't feel especially proud of it, maybe something you were happy you accomplished.

I would say it was beating Viewtiful Joe on Ultra V-Rated mode. That was one hard S.O.B. Also my LIVE score for Metal Slug 3. :D

Beating R-Type on the Master System on one life. Will never reach it again. Beating Byddos was a monstruous luck. And it's about 10 years back then...

Beating The first season of Sensible World of Soccer on the Amiga with Benfica without getting a single goal against. :buttrock: :buttrock:

Finding the last piece of heart of the whole Link to the Past game :buttrock: :buttrock: ( I had no Internet back in 95... )

And possibly the biggest joy of them all : Reaching Ryo Sakazaki in FFS in level-6 on the MVS. :buttrock: :p

01>Beating the JPN version of Metal Gear Solid without any walkthroughs or cheats of any kind a month before the American release, started playing it at 8:30 at night and finished the game at 6:15 in the previous morning. *THE HIGHLIGHT HOWEVER, was when I had to beat the tank without using the "Chaff" Grenade and had to learn an alternate way of doing it {which I still now use}, since I didn't know that Campbell was telling you what to use to distrupt the Tank's sensors. I ended up having to belly crawl around to see where the blast radius of it's volleys would hit {'bout 14 tries} and when I had that down I figured out that I could HUG the wall on the far right hand side of the screen, there at a certain point the tank would be visible and then it was a simple matter of counting the loading times between the two volleys it sent. After timing it right I just bum rushed the tank and got close enough that the Machine Gunner opened up on me. From then on it was a piece of cake. But I probably spent more time on that boss {in fact for me the rest of the game including REX and Vulcan Raven} than any other. Took me 1 hour and eight minutes to perfect the "alternate method".

02>Beating NAM-1975 ONCE, after a half hour battle with Dr. Muckley and his walking death mobile, zig zagging and getting off like two shots in an 8 second interval. The ending however, hardly seemed worth all the effort though.

03>Getting through 4 whole stages of Shock Troopers on "Lonely Wolf" mode without using a single continue. Soon I will be able to beat the game on ONE life! :smirk:

04>In the JPN Playstation game of A.T. VOTOMS: Lighting Slash when I finally defeated Gyap in the "Blow Battle" where I had to buy the Coil Arm and arm it on an ATH-14 STANDING TORTOISE, after button mashing through the "Battling" Circuit in Uoodo City and Benam on Planet Astragius but not knowing the proper way to spend the gildans to upgrade the right Armored Trooper {A.T.} configuration. *Beating that bastid in his ATH-14 was a Sweeeeeeet moment indeed. It helped knowing the storyline and some tech stuff for VOTOMS thanks to the animes and the OVAs never released in the R-1 Region, but the game wasn't easy.

2 player Dramatic Battle vs Vega all 3 characters doing there super duper within split seconds on PSX was an exciting sight, all them blue shadows filling up the screen.

The anticipation was well built with the sound from the super's start.

Dont sound like much bbut it was thrilling at the time.

Beating Ghosts n' Goblins for the NES. That game was a BITCH.

Beating the second quest for the Legend of Zelda. :buttrock:

Owning the $hyte out of everybody in Street Fighter II for the SNES, back in the day. "OMFG! That dude beat him with Dialism! (that's how he said it)" :tickled:

Laying the smack down with Galford (bust) on the local arcade scrubs in Sam Sho IV.

Laying the smack down in the casino arcade with Kabal in MK3 in front of my g/f at the time (and her parents) .... I was a stud back then, now I'm just a geek. :crying:

old school memory:

beating most major games back in the day, it was always such a feeling to get an ending for the first time...

college memories:
having an 18-win streak with Hanzo on SS2 in one arcade
having a 24-win streak with Galford on SS2 in another

having a 30-win streak with Subzero in MK1 while piss drunk
:D

the 1st time a bunch of us saw someone use Shang Tsung's Kintaro Fatality against another player in MK2...the crowd went nuts

creating a 10-hit combo for Kabal in MK3 that scared off a challenger before he put his quarter in...

for some reason, arcade memories always seem to be just a little bit sweeter because other people get to share in the moment with you...

Racking up over 100 wins in Fatal Fury Special in '93. You have no idea how insanely high my score was when I finally lost. My high score stayed there until I finally moved back to America, and every time I walked past the machine when the scores were displayed I knew I was a champ. Then again, every single initial was "WES," so they all knew who ruled that machine anyway.

That, and placing 3rd at a Super Turbo tournament in Okinawa. Only gaijin to place

Holy crapping %$%#^, I was going to say nearly the exact same thing. From Oct. '93 to Jan. '94, I had a record of about 300+ wins/ 2 losses on a combination of FF2 (Shin Matsudo) and FFS (Shibuya). Like you, whenever I didn't give my game to someone else because I had to go, I left that machine saying "WES". Now if only there had been a third Wes in Sapporo...

Never was any good at Super Turbo, though.

I once had a really awesome day schooling shoto scrubs on Super SF2 at Tilt.
45-0 by the time I was done, using Vega.

Other than that, I once wasted my friend using the absolutely shitty PS pad on Alpha 2, doing Chun-Li's level 2 Senretsukyaku into the Tenshokyaku level 1 super.
Killed him in the corner, he was utterly demoralized (he had a joystick).

Have also beaten ThunderForce III and Super Mario Bros. without dying.
Not particularly noteworthy, but hella satisfying.

Over 110+ wins undefeated in garou against my friend steve. A insane JD whore with jenet creds. This was massed over time, cause the thing clocks 99 as a max.
We would go 40 a night and he eventually just got fed up. Super close matches though.

Beating all ten master floors in super monkey ball.
Not to mention a bunch of crazy replays I've made from speed runs through stages. I hold my own, but im no CCK.

Me & Wes's FFS net matches.
Geese vs Geese
Kim vs Kim
Geese vs Krauser (These were our best)
Hes the best ffs player I've ever played.

Laying down takuma ownage in 2001 at super arcade.

Lord Yamazaki and me having Iori wars, and every match being trap, reversed guard, and various other cheese. They got mad deep. Always a blast to play G Lopez, we play such a similar style that each match was always close.

Playing and loosing happily to tourney level players in certain games. 2002 namely.
Having nin pow hall of fame ready records in super punch out time attack.
To bad I got into the game to late to have been involved.

Finally making the decision the Suikoden series is IMO the greatest RPG series ever to grace earth.
Suikoden II is easily the best RPG I've ever played. Only to follow is Secret of mana, Chrono Trigger *cross aside* and LTTP.

Having the pleasure of being in two Cyberfan vids. I worked so hard to get some material for the 2nd 2000 bugged video. Man good times indeed.

LWK, where can I see some Super Monkey Ball videos? I'm a big fan of those games.
