..or am I just a weed..?

I struggled through *hng* into the second disc, having no health or ammo for at least the last 6 saves or so, then this giant, well. I won't spoil it, but I just couldn't carry on

alas I had to restart, thus the 'is frigging hard' thread, I had no problems with the REbirth on either character.

plus, the game owns, discuss.

I've never played re3/re cv/ either so, is it worth picking them up or are they gay?

I liked Code Veronica.

I never played through Zero though - I own it for some reason however.

I bought the game sometime ago, and tried to play it ...once. Evebody said me that is HARD, so I tried to advance a bit in the game without saving, to same some ink ribbons...

SPOILER: I came to the part when you get the tool to open the trapdoor in the kitchen. Inside, I got killed by the dogs. Without doing a save game... :oh_no:

So...

Where's the best place to start saving?

Code Veronica = teh real RE2.

3 = teh ghey.

But on cube, CV have the same DC graphics, and 3 have the same PS1 graphics. No need to spend more on the GC version (if it's expesive than the others).

Code Veronica is the only game in the series I haven't beaten, besides RE0. RE3 is one of the best games in the series if you ask me though. I'd say it has more action than any of the other games, but some of its puzzles are pretty stupid. It'w worth looking into if you like the other games.

Also, what difficulty are you playing RE0 on? I've only had the game for a few months, but I started a new game on Easy just to check it out and it seemed like I was gettiing tons of ammo. If Normal is that much harder, I dont' even want to try it. I don't really have the patience for hard games these days for some reason.

But you have to agree with me:

Well, if you prefer suspense, eerie mood, horror game (a la Silent Hill) you must avoid RE3.

RE1 and RE0 are the best in that aspect, followed by RECV.

Resident Evil 0 = hard game but beatable

Resident Evil 1 remake - very good but sorta easy

Resident Evil 2 = decent

Resident Evil 3 - sorta the weakest of the group

Code Veronica = This is my fav. Very good story line

Resident Evil 4 = Still playing the RomZ

RE 0 wasn't that hard to me. That item dropping shit was the problem to me. I had a bunch of bullets and healing items all over the place. I was on Normal too. Some parts were challenging. FUCKING HUNTERS! I kept dying because as soon as I enter they leap and cut off my head. Outbreak is the hardest RE. Unfortunately it is the worst one I played.

Yeah, I would agree with you, except that I didn't find RE:CV that scary at all. I played a good chunk of the game, and I don't remember ever being all that scared. You are right about RE1 (or the REmake) though. Those games scared the hell out of me.

I always thought that RE is to Dawn of the Dead as SH is to the Excorcist. Two great horror stories that are very different.

Yes, CV is very cliché some times (skeletons rising from the graves :spock: ) but it have a good RE feel, it's more fidel to the original RE style than RE2 & 3, where you can find ammo everytime, EVERYWHERE for example :)

I had near on exact same time, disc 1 was fine, but at the start of disc 2 i was very weak and low on everything, getting further was really too much of a struggle and had to give up. HGreat game though.

I had a similar ex[erience on RE : CV, that is a masterpiece but towards the end I had to fight a tyrant esque guy in a trapped room. Where my save was there was no way out to get herbs..........the FAQ says you actually need an extra herb to beat it, I had none, couldnt get any:o

Resident Evil Zero is a piece of cake compared with Rebirth if you ask me.

I had much more trouble beating rebirth than Zero.

RE0 gives you dozens upon dozens of ammo ( even in the harder settings ) and you can pick/drop them for storage space. I only got trapped in the "striping agent" part coz' I didn't remember the first part of the Striping agent was still in the mansion/facility. The last boss is quite easy too.

The hardest part was perahps the animals hierarchy thing or the search for mixes to make the sulfuric acid to complete the battery.

Fran once posted a pic with his time record. I guess it was something near the less-than-3-hours mark on a high dificulty level.

maybe you're not a hardcore gamer :mr_t: :mr_t: :mr_t:

nah i thought it was pretty easy to be honest

most of the resident evils are easy to fairly difficult

depends on the kind of ending you want and how you destroy bosses etc

but yeah its easy are you are teh ghey

I get it...

It may be a bit harder to kill enemies on RE0, but I NEVER ran out of ammo on the whole game !!!

In Rebirth I had to run a lot of times to avoid getting beheaded by Hunters. Puzzles were harder in Rebirth than Zero, the killing part may be the opposite but again, I never ran out of ammo on that one. There are plenty of grenades, Napalm canisters, Shotgun Shells, Handgun bullets and all. Only the Magnum bullets were hard to get a lot ( they are rare in every RE by nature ).

I love RE1, I love zombies, I love Bmovies, I don't usually like 3d long drawn out shit games, but I love Re1, its like a desert island game to me or something, zzz yawn

Just finished RE2 three weeks ago, then bought and started playing RE0 two weeks ago, and last night I dusted off my copy of RE and started playing that as Chris.

Of the three RE2 was definitely the easiest. I thought that RE0 was hard at first, but once I actually got into the mansion things began to get easier, and by the time I got to the end it was no problem. RE1 on the other hand is just plain nasty with Chris, zombies can take up to 9 bullets to drop, and at the beginning, ammo is scarce scarce scarce...

OK, back to RE0. I was able to finish it my third time through with an 'A' rank and a clear time of 3 hrs 35 min (5 minutes over! Damn) on Normal

Here are a couple of RE0 pointers:

-Billy can take waaay more damage than Rebecca, so always make him your default character. If there's a room with monsters that attack you right away, have Billy go in alone first so that Rebecca doesn't get greased right off the bat

-otherwise, always go everywhere together. Two guns are better than one, especially when dealing with plain old zombies

-there is more than enough ammo and health to see you through the game on the Normal setting

-don't use anything on the zombies except for the pistol. On one or two occasions you start off in a room with a zombie right beside you- that's the only time when you should use the shotgun (aim up and blow off the zombies' heads with one shot). Stab zombies when they're on the ground to save bullets

-likewise, save the magnum for the boss (bosses, heh). Don't waste it on the Hunters, Spiders &tc. Those are what the grenade launcher and shotgun are for

-the shotgun works best on the Eliminators (the apes). These things are fast, so you need something with a wide spray. The shotgun will almost always hit, but there's a really good chance of missing with the grenade launcher, and the handgun doesn't do enough damage

-in order to save space, once you get the more powerful weapons, only carry around one handgun (the modified one, if you can find the extra handgun parts). Give it to Rebecca, and let Billy have all the heavy weaponry. You won't even need two handguns in the Water Treatment Facility

-most rooms only allow you to drop five or six objects, so try and organize where you keep everything. Create a 'health object' room, and a 'gun and ammo' room. Keep these rooms central, so it's easy to get back to them. The main hallway of the mansion is a good example. The second floor conference room, or the first floor dining room are also good places to store stuff

-don't bother to carry around ink cartridges. Unlike other RE games, all of the typewriters have an ink cartridge located beside them

-you don't need the grappling hook after the first Cable Car room in the Lab under the Church, so once you've used it there, you can ditch it to save space. You only use the thing four times in fact: in the train, in the church, to get to the second floor of the Lab, and to get to the second floor of the Cable Car room

-whenever you see a person-sized red or green gas tank (I don't know what these things are called in the English version) have Rebecca fill up her medicine pack. You will need a combination of the red and green medicine twice during the game, so keep your medicine pack stocked every chance you get. You can use these tanks an unlimited number of times, so keep filling up at the same ones. There's a green one in the Mansion in the Infirmary, a green and red one in the Lab under the Church, and a green and red one in the Water Treatment Facility. The only ones you really need to use are the ones in the Lab though, just make sure that Rebecca does the second floor and not Billy

Umm, that's all I can think of for now. I'll be back later with some 'Leech Hunter' pointers.
