Yesterday went shopping with the GF when she found a DC copy of Crazy Taxi for me. Complete, very good condition, 4.99. I was all over it.

I played the DC version at a friend's house moons ago. What little I played, sure was fun. I always meant to get the DC version at a good price since I won the free DC (thanks again, Fox1!) and now I finally got it. It was pretty cool too because it was a large bin of PS1 games and she found the only DC game they had left.

;)

Any memories/thoughts on either the arcade Crazy Taxi or the DC version?

I gotta say man "I hate Crazy Taxi" no matter what it costs. The game is very boring and sucks in my view. Argh!!! :envy:

Enjoy it if you like it but its not for me. ;)

i love this game to pieces, solid graphics to this day, addictive gameplay, great voice work, sweet difficulty level and great control.and it introduced me to the music of Bad Religion, now i have the entire back catalogue of that bands work, over 19 full lengths.

When it came out, I was amazed. I bought it with the official DC wheel, and literally i'd never had so much fun, for the time the graphics were great, great music and fx. I felt then it offered me the best arcade experience outside the Neo Geo, its still a fun game, seems limited after youve beat it to death, but damn fun.

Crazy Taxi 2 is no where near as good, i dont know why, it just isnt.

I loved it. Great graphics, solid driving engine, cool music and just a really well-done atmosphere that meshes with the rest of the game really well. I might have to play a little when I get home from work tonight because of this thread. Good stuff. :)

Crazy Taxi is an all-time classic! The DC version is near arcade-perfect.

Pity things never got to the same level of quality with the sequels.

the dc port was shoddy, you could drive through the city if you went far enough, and into a big - swamping green 'mess'

but meh, nice software house. I never got the whole punk in games thing and tattoos and shit, reminds me of a tribal gameboy sp

Crazy Taxi is by far one of my favorite DC games that I still pop in from time to time. I love the games were you can actually sit there and play forever and rack up a great score. Bad Religion is my favorite band, it's too bad they only had 2 songs in the game, there should have been more then just 2 from each band. The game looks really great with the DC VGA box.

Xbox has all three Crazy taxi's and they are better on the Xbox. No more slowdown.

Not true, it doesn't have all the scenarios.

PS2 Crazy Taxi might not be bad if the graphics weren't shit.

Very true. The Xbox version doesn't have all the scenarios. I enjoyed all 3 Crazy taxis, though. The only thing about Xbox Crazy Taxi is that the Las Vegas level is a mixed bag. It has some really great areas mixed with some pretty bland ones. But it also has slowdown in the strip (The only slowdown part of the game). I guess, if it is any consolation, all the better parts (normally away from the strip) don't slow down. Still, I overall like the remixed originals, better.

The Crazy Taxi 1 level was ported extremely well, on the Xbox, but I do miss the 2nd city arrangement from the DC version. But, on the other hand, they did use my favorite of the two New York layouts from CT2. CT2's levels are different, in a way I think the idea of how much you like it is attuned to how much you like the new system. The Crazy Taxi 2 levels were designed, in mind, that you use clever ramps with the Crazy jumping to find new shortcuts. One thing I enjoyed with the Crazy Taxi 2 level, is how you even had subterranean ramps in your driving strategy. And of course, including a Crazy Taxi version of Central Park.

But all in all, it just isn't crazy taxi without all the skillful crazy abilities you could do. It's like attaching special moves to the same simple driving controls, you're used to. That's why it irks me when reviewers even think to say some other experience is like crazy taxi without crazy drifts, jumps, drift/jumps, spins, boosts, etc.

HAHAHA. Gee, I knew you were gonna post something like that.

How sad. I got "Whipped" because I went mall shopping with my girlfriend? OH GOD FORBID HE DID!! ::Gasp:: PWAHAHA. I'll have you know, it was fun and it was my decision.

Her friend's Birthday is this Saturday but we both have work today and Friday. So Wednesday was our only free day, and she didn't buy her friend a gift yet, so I told her let's go to the mall and check shit out.

I didn't have to wait as the girl looked for clothes/shoes. We went to stores both of us liked... and we also found her friend the proper gift. Had a damn fine lunch too, at that.

It's funny how you always seem to nip at me whenever I bring up my GF, and hey, this thread was about Crazy Taxi, so if you got nothing to say about that game, then shut the fuck up.

What are you doing tonight? How about tomorrow night? Saturday night? Sitting home online posting on random boards and acting like you know it all? While I go out with my GF and have a good time... why don't you take a look at that picture and see who got WHIPPED.

I'm damn happy I don't possess your sad, cynical, jump-to-rash-conclusions mentality. I'm also grateful to be living in 2004, not 1981.

Crazy Taxi is much better, when you learn how to do the crazy dash, and the crazy jump...then you can zip around the levels in record time...

MUCH better...
