I just picked this up yesterday and it's pretty fun. It's based on the classic "Crouching Tiger Hiden Dragon" sort of Japanese mythology. It's got a quirky combat system in which you can do your classic combos and such as in many hack n slash games, but you have this counter attack meter. In essence, you have a meter at the top by your health bar that automatically counters any attacks (as long as you are facing the enemy). Once you start countering, each counter takes up one counter bar (you have about 5 to start out with). Then in that span of time, if you hit the attack button, you'll do a counter attack that will make you swords go insane with power and will make your attacks bigger and more powerful. Some bosses can do teh same as you so it makes for a very nice sword dance of sorts and is very cool to watch. There is also a nice wall run and other features, but for the most part, it's a well made game and runs at a solid 60 fps through the whole game. It's Taito's 50th anniversary game and it's worth the $40.

BTW: I did see other topics with this game in it, but no one thread dedicated to the game.

VERDICT

Bujingai is a fun game, and racking up insane combos is fun... although the level design is a bit confusing, and the fact that he can run up walls for near infinitum he somehow cool and unnerving...

I'm only ont the thrird world with about 3 hours into it... I like it... but I don't love it.

I'd say its better than DMC 2 though....

I am looking forward to completing it... as I hear it has a rather interesting final battle...

Yes, after awhile it gets more interesting. So far it's a keeper and I'm at the 6th world.

That's right, I almost forgot it, the final battle is amazing.

Quick question:
Hows the replay value? Are there plenty of unlockables? Somehow this game seems to remind me of Shinobi/Nightshade...

Well, I'm about 6 hours into it, and I have about %15 of things unlocked. There is a ton to unlock. I'd say it has so much more to unlock then Shinobi did and it will take me awhile to get everything unlocked. I just got Lau's new costume (he's dressed like the Japanese male singer who is the voice of Lau). It is very similiar to Shinobi. You have a air dash which lets you dash in the air through the wind. You have a wall run and other things that reminded me of Shinobi. As far as replay value goes, I think I will replay it again just to go through it and enjoy raping and killing.

I played through most of the japanese version when it came out and I dont remember any raping.

This game is good stuff, lots of Wushu style fighting, particle effects, acrobatics ect.. The envirioments are kind of bland but fun to play through. Actually I think most of the levels are supposed to be kind of bland because of all the effects that happen when your fighting(constantly) Its like Otogi and Shinobi mixed together.
Even if like myself you hate Gackt give the game a chance it rocks.

I guess what I really want to know is are any of the unlockables other characters like in Nightshade you could play with Hotsuma and that other girl with the big umbrella(can't remember her name now)?

Well, so far I have 30/65 coins and I only have Lau's other costume (It's not that great, just a skin of the pop star singer who does the Japanes voice that Gackt guy). I do not see any options to play as any other people from the game, but if I see anything else, I'll post.
