These motherfuckers are seriously pissing me off.
I've had dsl through ameritech/sbc for about 4 years now. For the first 2-3 years, I had no problems, my score was always around 640, well in the range it should be, and I rarely got disconnected. The only real problem I had was that it would sometimes disconnect when it rained. Then they had some deal where it was cheaper if you signed for a year contract, so I did that. They also improved the speeds they offer. 2 weeks later my speeds drop to below 300, which is just crap. I figure it had something to do with them giving me the wrong level of service after getting the one year deal. I was right, and a couple weeks later, it was fixed and I was getting scores of 1.2mbps which is nice.
So about a month goes by, everything is going good, when all of a sudden I can't connect even though all 4 lights on the modem are green like they should be. They come out to check shit out, install some crap in the basement, and everything seemed to be fixed up nice. If I had 4 green light on the modem, it would connect, almost all the time at good speeds. Great. Then soon after that, I would come home from work, no bad weather outside, and the fucking modem is blinking orange. It would happen at random times for no reason. Which really pissed me off, considering that would only happen when it was shitty outside in the past (and it really shouldn't even happen then) Well that finally seemed to have sorted it out, which is ok I guess.
Which brings me to yesterday. I'm playing an online poker tournament, and doing well, even though it's early in the tourny. It starts raining and of course the internet goes out. Now during this time, I'm just folding in the game only losing money on blinds. If the internet would have came back with 15-20 minutes, I would've been fine. But nope, FUCKING BLINKING ORANGE LIGHT. I wake up this morning and the shit still don't work.
I wound up getting 85th in the tournament since I was just folding the whole time.
Too bad I couldn't get to 40th, I woulda got paid, haha. Oh well, waste of 6 bucks.
maybe time to switch to comcast, but they are more expensive.
PS: I'm guessing maybe 3% of you will read this whole post.
