In my opinion no chance. I think Riding Hero is the worst of the 25 AES games I own. It's poor.

What are other opinions on this game

Well compared to Hang on, yes, it is inferior... but I think Riding Hero is a good game on its own merits. It may not be the best, but it is a retro motorcycle racer on the Neo, and as such is like nothing else on the system. Plus, it is a cheap game, so it can be a fun dirty pleasure.

Super Hang On on MD/Genesis plays on another Level if we compare it to Riding Hero.
That game isn´t worth $20,00 IMO...

I agree. I think even the Genesis made better looking racers. When I first laid eyes on that game, I thought the Neo must have been a horrible system for racers. No wonder the best ones are top down (a la RC Pro Am) and not scrolling types.

If the Neo had some king of Mode 7 rotation, there may have been more racers of the scrolling type, given the Neo's scaling capability. Riding Hero could have been incredible if for that option.

Riding Hero's story mode still is a nice feature of a game of that genre.

It actually makes you forget that the game is meant to be a racing game... :)

Super Hang-on is the best MD game of 80's(1988,1989).An impresive conversion-the SEGA's XTYPE-YTYPE arcade boards is far powerful-.
Great scaling emulation, the 4 songs of the game is on the top20 YAMAHA sound chip of MD,and marvelous original mode. The instruction book is the best of 80's MD games too...
The story mode of RIDING HERO is nice and imaginative.

I remember when I first saw pics of Riding Hero on EGM or something back in late 80's or early 90's... I was drooling... And no arcade near me has this game, so when I first got my neo, that was one of the first games I bought (remember no internet access back in 91 or so).

I was soooo disappointed. The game just SUCKED. However, the sound was decent. STill, I finished the story mode (was pretty easy if I remember correctly... it has been almost 10 years since I last touched that game :)

I always thought the neo can do an Outrun like game with ease. But nada so far. And not likely we will ever see another sprite based driving game in first person perspective (except on GBA)... :(

Riding Hero was a game that I picked up early in my Neo Geo life. It is also one of the least played games that I have ever purchased. I just could not find anything there to keep me interested in playing. Maybe I should jam the thing in my console an try it again tonight 'cause I'll be too busy playing Legend of Sucess Joe tomorrow night! <img src="graemlins/glee.gif" border="0" alt="[Glee]" />

The game sucks. But does have some good points as mentioned earlier.

Its a bit unfair to compare it with Super Hang on which was a dedicated cab with handlebars and on some models a seat. This coupled with a great game will always blow Riding Hero out of the water.

Having said that Neo Driftout is still one of the best 2D driving games- with joystick control !!!

Riding was one of the first NEO carts I ever owned, sadly it is no longer with me, nor is the system it was meant for (DAMN THE CAPITIALIST SYSTEM!! DAMN IT ALL!!) But I have fond memories of Riding Hero. No, it's not the best cycle racer you'll ever play or is it the best looking, but it was fun. Riding up on the competition and nudging the into oblivion, ah, memories....and it had that headphone jack on the cart so you could zone out in your own Riding Hero world. I miss you Riding Hero....
