Here's the start of a redesigned cover for the Nightmare in the Dark insert. I'll be working at this on and off throughout the weekend so please post comments and crits, thanks!

One last update for the night, I wanted to make the claws stand out more and attract eye gaze to the lower portion of the cover. Enjoy!

I personally liked the claw behind the meg count, rather than as an overlay.
DARK ANDY's suggestion is worth looking into - it might suit this game very well.

There seems to be a white border seperating the monsters on the front cover with the black background. Any chance it could be filled in, as it stands out a little too much and appears awkward.

I like the back a lot, though. Nice work!

I like the Grey myself. It's nice how it blends the picture into the border color. I too, like the crossover w/ the claw on the megcount and over the red Ribbon area. Good Job.

DARK ANDY said:
Can you make one that is black where it is gray now?

Do you mean turn the entire cover black, or turn just the cover graphic black and leave the grey spine & cover?

I wanted to give the feeling like you were stepping in to the dark, thus having the blend from the cover grey into the image itself and having the claws extend over the MEG count.

Some good ideas to go on, so I'll play around with them and post some results. Thanks everyone! :D

I meant turn the grey areas (front and spine) into the Black color that's on the back cover. That would rock. :D

I dont have this game (probably will never have it). I do like your choice in art used in the front cover. I would probably keep the claws behind the Meg Count and perhaps get rid of the thick border around the front cover all together. I like the depth you added to the art with the gradient or fading you did with the colors (from grey to black).

Nice job overall. Keep em comin!

I removed the claw to see how much it would change the look and reduced the size of the border to be less obtrusive.

Enjoy!

Even though it was only a few changes, they really had a major impact on the cover. Trust me, that's a positive thing - it was good before but solid now.

Thanks for another good insert!

Bump for you.

Let me know if you want your stuff featured on Classic-Shock. Some people have asked for Super Dodgeball and im sure want a Nightmare insert but probably do not know of your work.
