I was watching ESPN today and saw something that caught my attention. The Lakers are want to trade Shaq. Man after losing to the pistons guess it's all down hill. The Lakers are going to go go from championship caliber to basement dwellers.

I also heard Phil Jackson isn't coming back to coach the Lakers next year, Kobe also wants to get traded, man the Lakers are going to be one of the worst team's next season.

Meh, good riddance I say. It's over-dramatized, over-hyped bullshit like that that drives people like me off.

Yeah they are. I heard the reason they're getting rid of everybady is so they can keep Kobe. I'd take Shaq but that's my opinion. Dominant Center > Dominant SG sorry Kobe

I thought that Shaq was definitely much more effective in the finals. Kobe had that three pointer, and a few other nice drives - but Shaq's big ass could just score basically at will when he was on.

I don't want to dog Kobe but Shaq always draws double teams so I don't know how good he'll be without him. Another ex. of a good C was Ewing and Starks. Starks wasn't that grat but because of the great skills of Ewing he got some good looks. I likes Staks but any NBA fan knows he was a bit overated

Shaq should go to New Jersey...can you imagine how much he'd score with Jason Kidd feeding him the ball? Holy shit.

I'm sure there'd be no shortage of potential suitors. I personally think the Lakers are fucking idiots for getting rid of Shaq to keep Kobe. Shit, by this time next year, the only trophy Kobe will be defending will be his man-cherry in prison.

Kobe has some insane athletic gifts, but the man is selfish to the umpteenth fucking degree...a ball-hog of immense proportions. Can you imagine if he ended up with Philadelphia? There aren't enough basketballs in the world for both Kobe and The Answer.

phil was gonna retire anyway, win or lose (or so he says). they are keeping Kobe because he is YOUNGER and they can rebuild around him for years to come if they sign him to another long term contract. if they keep kobe and shaq, they will have the same problem of having 2 superstars with a bunch of minimum wage makers because shaq and kobe are 2 of the highest paid NBA players. If Shaq went to an eastern team like NJ or the 76ers and had iverson or kidd feeding him the ball, wow, they would be in the finals for sure.

i also think Shaq>kobe as far as dominance goes.

also the orlando magic are looking to trade tracey mcgrady too.

IMO shaq should go to the miami heat, wow that team would own with him.

Here's the way it's going down.

Phil Jackson is off to do whatever he does.

Shaq pulled a Michael Jordan and said he wouldn't play under any coach but Phil Jackson.

Shaq says he wants more rings, though.

Shaq and Kobe are not willing to play on the same team.

So it was either gonna be:

1) Phil Jackson and Shaq, but no Kobe

or what it will likely be now

2) Kobe, but no Phil Jackson or Shaq

Maybe Shaq will retire and play baseball? :spock:

This definitely leaves the Lakers in a bind though, without a center.

Maybe we'll just find a way to get Yao Ming just to piss everyone off. :make_fac:

Actually, here is the REAL deal as to whats going on.

Laker's owner (Jerry Buss) has decided that he wants Kobe to be the team leader. Phil Jackson only had a 5 year contract which expired this year. Buss opted not to renew Jackson's contract in an attempt to keep Kobe there. Kobe did not want to play another year with Jackson as head coach. In fact, during the the end of the season, Kobe missed several practices... and the ones he did attend he arrived late and would not run the plays that Jackson wanted him to. Also, several times it was documented that Kobe cursed Jackson out during practice.

Shaq realized that Jerry Buss was no longer interested in a "TEAM" effort. Buss has opted to focus on the monetary aspect and put the championship on the backburner. Meaning, that Kobe will basically have a say in who coaches as well as which new players are brought in to be his "SUPPORTING CAST " . Shaq went to Mitch Kupchack and demanded to be traded because if the team is going to be focused solely around what Kobe wants...then there is no TEAM. Therefore, he knows less money will be offered to him, for the exchange to spend money for new players. The only problem is...Shaq has 2 years remaining in his existing contract. In order for a trade to go through, the Lakers will need to trade him for someone equivalent to what Shaq is worth these last 2 years. In other words....another team will have to trade 4 - 6 other players in order to get Shaq. Look forward to seeing Shaq 1 more year and most likely leaving the Lakers after next season.

The bottom line is....EVERY superstar had a well built team around them. Larry Bird had Parrish...Magic had Kareem and Worthy...Jordan had Pippen, Rodman and Kerr. I think Jerry Buss needs to take Freshman Math because 1 is not bettter than 2. Kobe is a great player....but not great enough to trade away Talent like Phil Jackson ( 9 Championship Titles under his belt), Shaquille Oneal..One of...if not THE hardest guards to stop in the entire league...not to mention that he's the one that has carried this team ALONG with Kobe.

Dont be fooled that Kobe wants to be traded. Kobe knows he will get no better deal than the one he has in Los Angeles.....not to mention no other city has the money to offer him more than Buss will offer him. Also, with this case pending against him...could any of you really imagine Kobe playing in any of those Southern States  . This may be 2004...but in the south...they still dont take to kindly to black men "messing" with a good 'ole girl...if you know what I mean.

One thing is for sure. Next years playbook for the Los Angeles Lakers will only be one page...with one sentence printed on it:

No matter what......pass to KOBE!!!!!!

Next year...the Lakers wont be playing in Staples Center....they'll be playing under a Big Top Tent. It's going to be a fucking circus. Welcome to Los Angeles Bitches!!! :oh_no: :oh_no: :oh_no:

Couldn't happen to a better team or players. :glee:

Personally, I would nothing better than watch these fools be a cellar-dweller for decades to come. :buttrock:

The lakers might have won the championship this year if they used that playbook, but had pass to "SHAQ" instead of Kobe....
