PS2 HD Loader question

Does this mean you can load imports onto the HD and play them without mods on your system? I dont think I have read anywhere yet whether you can or not.

Nope. This isn't your kid brother's Xbox HDD. Sony is taking the low road and being completely gay with this HDD. Seems so far that you can only load certain games (namely RE:O and FFXI), and you still need the disc (for RE:O, anyway).

And since it doesn't run any derivation of windows, no romz for you!

Doesn''t matter really tho. The only way to get the HDD is with FFXI, and it takes up 25/40 gigs. By the time they give us all the updates for the game when it has run its course, it will probably take up the whole HDD.

I suppose you could buy a used HDD off of some1 that canceled their FFXI sub, but there again, why would you want to? For 5 sec faster loads of RE:O? and the HDD only hooks up though a modem anyway...

also some mochips allow you to use HD without any problem of region compatibility, some others dont

No no, hes talking about the new HD Loader software by third party that lets you dump any games on it, also 3rd party HD's will be able for use. Its unclear weather it lets imports yet.

I got my HD Loader and 120GB Hard Drive, still waiting for my Network adapter to arrive. Once I get it, I'll post impressions.

Got an e-mail (spam) from Console Source announcing it (the HD Loader) and their statement is basically that you don't need a mod chip anymore so you just dump the game and play it!

Anyways so the HD Loader I read does not play imports like I had hoped. Still requires any of the available mods to do so. Lame.

If you ps2 is modded, it can copy the imports, and bootlegs. The DVD9 games dont work though. :crying:
