In you opinion, what system deserves the title "worst system ever," and why?

I believe it has to go to the Jaguar - proof that developer support rather than powerful hardware is what turns a system with potential into a powerhouse.

Did you even own a VB?

Wario World, Red Alarm, Mario Tennis, Panic Bomber, Vertical Force, Teleroboxer... yeah, I don't think you did.

CD-i
Amiga CD-32

Jaguar and Virtual Boy were actually excellent hardware with poor soft support - therefore not bad systems - CD-i & CD-32 were among the worst console ever created : bad design and already outdated when released.

I think the AES and MVS suck.

Luckily it's all over now!

Welcome the Atomiswave, the next revolution.

Crap talk aside,

I absolutely disliked the Jaguar. I loathed the pads.
Can't say much about the Virtual Boy since I've never owned one.
Also, there was once when I contemplated between the Philips CD-I and Panasonic 3DO. Went with the 3DO so I do not know how much CD-I sucks. (Yes, i've got a fren who owned a CD-I then. I loved the 3DO though.

So there,

Philips CD-I
Atari Jaguar

The real fun is seeing how long you can play them until you develop a splitting headache.

Did anyone experience numbness in the hands? Because when I had a VB, the most common problem I discovered first was cutting off the circulation to my hands from holding the controller for an hour or two. Plus temporary blindess for 5 mins after using it.

Regardless of the problems I had with it, the games were excellent, especially Galatic Pinball, Mario Clash, and Wario Land

N-GAGE all the way. This machine allowed you to look like a total fucking geek loser, while at the same time allowing you to play all the $htye games that only a mainstreamer could love.

OMG its teh NES bcoz teh grafix r teh sux0rz!

Naaw it's the Game.com. I owned about 5 from 4th-5th grade (they all broke strangely, mostly the screen stopped responding to taps, but also stuff like the system not powering on at all or getting frozen on one screen (when I was only playing solitaire)). All the games were mediocre, and the ad campaign was disgusting. Their internet, I heard, was a joke; you had to use a dialup ISP that provided ASCII web services (wtf). I remember wanting Sonic Jam but years later I read reviews for it and saw I wasn't missing out.

Also from what I've read, the CD-I seemed pretty bad (yawn, yet another mid-90's CD based system that tried to be an all-in-one entertainment thingie).

The Jaguar wasn't the best but by no means I'd call it the worst.

yes I did back in 98 all that red hurted my eye's the only games I had was Mario
Tennis it was good as for Wario World I didnt like it. For some apparent reason the
Virtual Boy made me dizzy I could only play it for like 17 minutes something like
that then I would have to stop and lay down. I also hated the Design of it.

hands down the CDi, no fucking point to own the system period, i think any game that was close to being playable, is also on the 3DO anyway or the PC, i mean even the shitty Jag has a couple of somewhat meaningful reasons to own it (even if they are very few). Even being a complete Zelda fanboy wouldn't warrent a CDi, cause the 2 zelda games on it aren't even made by Nintendo.

Sad to see all this Jaguar hate. Apparently the lot of you never played Alien vs.Predator, Attack of the Mutant Penguins, Battle Sphere/Battle Sphere Gold, Iron Soldier I and II, and several other games I can't seem to recall the name of right now. The Jaguar had some damn good games... so whatever. Just because Fight for Life sucked ass doesn't mean the whole console does.

At any rate, my vote goes for the CDI.

CDi wasn't that bad. It should've been more seen as an entertainment box rather than a video game console. I'm surprised nobody said Nuon yet, but Nuon does have Tempest 3000...

During the neoclassic era, in terms of software:

Worst of the worst:

Jag (Sam Tramiel takes drugs, I'll say that again)

Memorex VIS (who the hell plays all-learning game system and can only be bought at Radioshack)

32X (this system single-handedly lead demise of Sega's hardware business, the culprit: Tom Kalinske)

Halcyon (who'd pay $2000 for a LD player that plays FMV games)

Pathetic (few good games, but the rest of software killed the systems):

CDI (who came up with the idea of expensive add-on on top of an expensive base system)

3DO (Trip seemed unable to figure out what gamers wanted)

Sega CD (who the hell plays those FMV junks with poor acting?)

Amiga CD32

Amiga CDTV
