Only 6 games??
Meh. If I need my fix of poorly emulated Genesis games, I'll stick to the classics disc that was released for DC (poor sound and all).

No doubt ... what an unnecesarily disappointing compilation that was :oh_no:

However, I don't see why they couldn't get it right ... it's a question of whether or not they'll rush out a POS. I think it'd be kinda cool to include packages of similar games to go in each of the controller. One could have sonic games, another with beat 'em ups, another with sports games, etc.

Well, you could use it to make an actual portable genesis. (Yeah yeah, nomad whatever)

Other than that, meh.

Didn't Sega release one of those a year ago with like 30 games, and 6 instead of 3 button controller? Plus sega programer can't emulate Mega Drive worth a damn, just play the smash pack for the Dreamcast or PC.

Man that DC Smash Pack is shit...even "Wise Fwom yo Gwave" sounds garble..I cant even stand to play Vectorman, the only thing decent was the VC2 port...they messed up the Music and SFX on Streets of Rage!

What a disgrace, I nearly had to squint in disgust when I had to hear Golden Axe...literally "AXED"... it was like they took the SMS verison's sound chip in the Genesis...

Stay away from it...unless you want another Shooter for DC besides HOTD2

Dude that DC Genesis pack sounded terrible. Most of the reproduced music on all the games almost sounded like it came from a Sega Master System.

EXACTLY!...Golden Axe and Shining Force are the worst offenders in that regard. Sad really. :crying:

don't forget the some of the games actually have more slowdown than the genny versions, lol. vectorman was the worst.

Hmm...speaking of blast processing...if I recall, even the simple Sonic 1 included on the Smash Packs was riddled with more slowdown than the originals! :tickled:

Cool idea, and I wouldn't mind picking one up. But I'd like to see it in action before I buy it.

So if I still have a Genesis/Mega Drive, and I have those games... what's the point? Most of those games can be picked up from eBay on the cheap, probably less than the $40 MSRP, so why bother really? Put out a single controller with expensive ass games, like Herzog Zwei (is that still expensive? I haven't gone looking for Genesis/MD games in a long time) and it'd be worth buying.

Convenience, really. Tracking down games in good shape can be a pain on e-bay. And yes, I know that I'm a lazy bastard.

the story is that sega made their own genesis emulator (it's true) on dcemulation, or rather a sega employee did. Later on fans complained (why?) and so it was decided to discontune the project. However I think Sega was impressed enough with the emulator this guy had made (and it not in devolpment for very long and shows) that they released it offically with some genesis classics to bundle with new dreamcast's for sale.

It didnt stop, Sega diect released in online in Japan for the Dreamcast, they also did the same for PC Engine on Dreamcast.

It continues now for PC, right now you can find the new official Mega CD emulator, and Sega direct PC downloads of Valis III & Granada X, both wonderful games, they have taste them sega boiz.

Personally, if I'm taking the time to locate these games, it's not to collect them, it's to PLAY them, so I couldn't give a fuck less what the condition is, as long as the motherfucker PLAYS without issues.

Since they are carts, I doubt you'd find many of the games in non-working condition., and even if you did, for $40, even buying all those other games, you'd likely be able to get ANOTHER copy of it within that $$$ constraint.

Of course, the games they comment on I really have no desire to actually PLAY anyway...

Jesus people, it's a novelty item, like the Atari joystick. That thing had an equally small amount of games, and we all know all Atari games could be fit on about 8MEG of space. But, it's just a neat collectable, a cool little toy, a fun gift. And if these are like those Atari sticks, which also started around $35 when released they'll be $9.99 when everything is said and done... and come on... What gamer nerd wouldn't love to bring that to work for the office, or on some spare TV somewhere.... It's just a cool toy.

I know EA would never let them do it, but they need to put NHL 94, and one of the Maddens on it just for the hell of it! Sega had the best baseball game too so put World Series baseball 96 or whatever it is called too. Now that would be an awesome gadget (but probably need two controller!)

Yeah, I love the portability of something like this. Just plug and play, it's a really cool item. :D
